Range Rover Sport Range Rover Sport (L494)

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by Land Rover, later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Range Rover Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, which was replaced by the third generation Range Rover Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Awful, I can't even hear a pin drop on the deep pile carpet. :D

You obviously have missed my point about your sentence. It implies the noise levels are HIGH.

"Road noise levels in this thing far exceed my Cayenne and I'd imagine come close to S-Class level".

^I think their conclusion says it all

The all-new RR Sport is a FANTASTIC piece is engineering, they’d gone to great lengths to ensure they break-free of the brand’s shady past and made a cracker of an automobile and best of all, TATA had done it, they’d showed the world what can be done when you take a decision and stick on with it no matter what the cost. To all who questioned TATA’s potential to revive the iconic Brit marques, they told, “the arc was built by amateurs and the Titanic by the pros”. Nuff said!
- maybe it does, but what about in English? Or was this Google Translate from 'Street', for the intended clientele drug dealer patois.

Ahh I see, ok but you know what I meant. Their a stretch of motorway between Antrim and Belfast which in most cars transmits quite a lot of road noise into the cabin but not so in the RR Sport.

@Kilcrohane you wrote this a little while back

According to that awkward bitch of a thing called reality, 'The Shittest/Most Dangerous/Most Overpriced/Joke engineered/Joke Built/Most cynical POS ever... ...in the World'.

I decided to use google translator on it and it worked a treat.

According to that awkward bitch called reality, 'The Brilliant/Safest/Best Value/Superbly engineered/Solidly built/Most fantastic SUV ever... ...in the world'

I think I'll be using this useful tool in the future and must recommend it to anyone wanting to read Kilcrohane's post.

'Stealth'? Surely this is Land Rover's new 'Wayne Rooney Pack', ready in time for Wayne, Woy and the Boys to pack and return next week.

Seriously though, this ultra naff, barely sub-Kahn shite, the binning in less than a year of Harry Metcalfe's Engineered To Order thing, the song and dance about 'Special Operations', a glorified marketing deal of Barbour jackets with Land Rover logos, is soooo reminiscent of the final days of the Phoenix Four Crooks' days at Rover, with their similar X-Power rubbish, dressing up of ancient products with 'sporty' warpaint and naff addenda, all to pretend that the operation is dynamic, and not covering up a terminally decaying outfit - not unlike England football's 'play the youth' mantra, an attempt to hide the fact that English football is dying, if not dead, thanks to a population that no longer plays it en masse as they once did, two generations ago, and now a literal handful of very modestly talented 'youths' are exalted as if they were Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Gazza, not unlike comparing JLR 2014 to the British auto industry of the 1950 and 60s.

I think the "stealth pack" looks great. If there was a differnt engine choice in the states, I would have considered this vehicle.

2016 Range Rover Sport gains new options & additional standard equipment
Goes on sale next month
Land Rover has announced a series of updates to the 2016 Range Rover Sport.

First and foremost, American consumers will be able to buy a diesel-powered model that features a 3.0-liter Td6 turbodiesel V6 engine that produces 254 bhp (189 kW) and 440 lb-ft (595 Nm) of torque. It should enable the model to return an estimated 24 mpg combined.

On the topic of diesel engines, the SDV8 diesel engine will be equipped with an engine start/stop system.

Moving on, the InControl Remote has been renamed InControl Protect and will automatically contact emergency services in the event of an accident. There will also be a new InControl Remote Premium service that will allow owners to remotely lock / unlock the vehicle, reset the alarm as well as flash the lights and honk the horn.

The 2016 Range Rover Sport also gains improved rearview and surround cameras as well as newly standard All Terrain Progress Control and Auto Access Height systems.

There's also a variety of new personalization options including a new Carbon Fiber Pack that adds high-gloss lacquer accents to the grille surround, mirrors, side vents and tailgate.

The Range Rover Sport is only a couple of years old but it appears the company is already working on a facelift for the popular model.

Caught undergoing testing near the Nürburgring, the facelifted model features a new front bumper with vertical air intakes. We can also see a revised grille and a modified hood.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but will likely carryover from the existing model. This means we can expect an assortment of familiar petrol and diesel units.

Little else is known about the facelifted Range Rover Sport but speculation suggests it could be introduced in mid-2016.

Range Rover Sport facelift spied for the first time

I'm seeing the facelfited RRS more frequently. The big Germans might have mastered the art of designing saloons, coupe and hatchbacks. But when it comes to SUVs, no German match the shape, style and presence of the Range Rover Sport.

Small changes to the head and tail lights have re-ignited my appreciation for this car. It's the best designed SUV.

No doubt the Rangie Sport has some of the best lines in its class - I remember being quite enthused with it when it was first launched - and aesthetically a huge desirability factor. Same goes for Range Rover and Velar...

And yet, beyond all the superficiality of this handsomeness lies a technologically compromised product whose dated powertrains and documented reliability issues turn desirability into liability.

Absolutely. It's horrendously expensive, not sporty to drive, doesn't have the best chassis and the infotainment has poor usability. But it's comfortable and make you look like a boss.

Few cars have the same magnetic appeal that lure deep pocketed youngsters, families, single women/guys and retired.

I know a lot of people who own Range Rovers, most of them in Russia where the conditions are worse than most, I don't know anyone who has had problems with theirs. It's like the N54 turbo issues with BMW everyone said they were a problems, there were dozens of posts on bimmer forum about it but I've never met a single person who had a problem. Also according to internet law VW/Audi products are terribly unreliable, I've owned 2 VW's and 3 Audis, so far the only problem I have had was replaced the EGR failing and replaced under warranty after emissions cheat software was upgraded. The internet blows things up and people blindly believe it, whilst the majority of owners never have any problems with them at all.

Big JLR issues down here in SA. Predominantly relating - but not restricted - to hot-n-high conditions which hamper the turbodiesels' (SA's favoured fuel-type in big SUVs by far) reliability. But look, it's well documented outside of SA too - it's not just an Internet thing.

The comments on Land Rover's UK Facebook page are eye opening though. Several shocking problems including 3 engine swaps, re-welding, leaky roofs, faulty boots you name it.
