Range Rover Sport New Range Rover Sport HST With Straight-Six Mild Hybrid and 395hp Revealed!!

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by Land Rover, later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Range Rover Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, which was replaced by the third generation Range Rover Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
The Autocar article said the I6 would replace all V6 engines currently used. I guess they’ll roll them out starting with the RR Sport.

When was the last time VAG had an inline 6 .
I meant follow the mild hybrid route of 48V tech with electric booster motor and other electric motors to replace other things like starter motor, alternator etc.

The closest VAG got to making an inline 6 is probably the VR6 motor, but it still had a 15deg angle between the bank of staggered cylinders on the same engine block.

They still have this construction in the Bentleys W12 (it is two VR6s mated together)
