Discuss PS5 vs Xbox Series X

This is a PS5 exclusive for instance (not crossplay with PS4 I believe, and definitely not on the Xbox:

4k 60 fps, Demon's Souls

So far Sony's first party title lineup looka superior to that of the Xbox.

Disappointed that Gran Turismo 7 didn't make an appearance at the PS5 event. I assume from that it's not likely to be due until Spring or Summer 2021, guess I don't need to join the fight for a pre-order. Happy Days.

Even that would surprise me. You can indeed take it easy and sit the launch period out if you're waiting for GT :)

Both consoles have poor launch lineups. I wonder whether it's because games are so big and complex now that it's difficult to develop one and a console in parallel.

Nowadays some big titles even debug through launch free open betas. This is off course not possible if the console isn't in the hands of consumers.

Sony's launch lineup is actually quite good. Much better than the PS4 launch lineup. And the first year of PS5 is going to be miles better than the PS4 in terms of software.

First year PS5:

  • God of War Ragnarok
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Sackboy A Big Adventure
  • Returnal
  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Destruction AllStars
This is just the first party software, I am not even talking about the big 3rd party games like Cyberpunk (which will be a launch game) Assassin's Creed (also launch), Final Fantasy, etc.

Yes. There are games in the pipeline but many won't launch until sometimes in 2021. Overall the PS5 does have a significantly stronger lineup of flagship games.

Anyone remember the GT days before traction and stability control? It was hard back then. Griffiths 500 Special Stage R5 in the wet license test.

And the answer to the PS5 vs XBoxSX?

PC.

Thoroughly disappointed by it being a cross gen game. It's on the PS4 too, which has ancient old crappy hardware!

Just look at this here:

F'ing YUCK. Horrible. PS3 graphics on a PS5 game.

I'm guessing they don't want to alienate the PS4 user base when it comes to the online element of the game. As someone that doesn't really care for online gaming I'd be disappointed if GT7 was technically held back to satisfy online gamers...

... having said that. Shortages, price scalping, and generally a lack of interesting games means that getting a PS5 is tough to justify for me. I would absolutely buy one (effectively) just for GT7, but I'm not paying anymore than standard retail price, and if that means I don't end up getting one before GT7 is released, I'll just buy it for the PS4 instead (assuming the functionality and features I'm looking forward to are present).

I'm hugely disappointed in Microsoft and Sony. Soon we'll be celebrating the 1st year anniversary of their new consoles, yet except for Flight Simulator and Rachet & Clank, there are no genuine next gen games.

I'm guessing they don't want to alienate the PS4 user base when it comes to the online element of the game.
Translation: They want to continue to milk previous gen console owners for money from digital games and DLC ;)
