Hot! Porsche: What's Next

Everybody invested in EVs and we are talking about 6 billion for J1 platform which was shared with Audi, so its not like they all their money on that.

Indeed Porsche forgot to invest also in ICE cars, or they paid out the money to shareholders.
Does Porsche need to invest alot in engines for ICE cars? In my honest opinion they don't have to as they just recently launched the new 3.6 flat six hybrid engine in the 992.2 GTS, and Turbo models and this 3.6 flat six in detuned form could be perfect to fit into a new ICE Cayman/Boxster models. They can save costs by not developing a flat 4 engine. For the other front engined models such as SUV's and Panamera they can use VW/Audi turbo inline 4, V6 and V8 engines with mild hybrid or PHEV tech.

iX3 is a full generation newer in like every aspect including design.
As much as I like the new Macan E, I don't think its a bigger enough step forward compared to the ICE version, the interior in particular looks a bit cheap skate for its high price and the new iX3 and GLC EQ highlight its lack of tech, range, and value for money. They are both more stylish and hugely cheaper.

The cheapest Macan E costs 80.700 Euros and only has 265kw/360PS and 5,7sec from 0-100km/h and 644km range.

You would need to spend 90.700 Euros on the 4S before you can drive a Macan that will match or beat the performance of the iX3 50 or GLC 400 both are over 20K Euros cheaper.

Or 102,588.10 € with options that are standard on €50k cars today https://porsche-code.com/PS4KFEC4

Some of this is easy to fix. They just need to change the way they are thinking. Horsepower and straight line acceleration doesn't work as source of value in EVs.

I can say even Xiaomi YU7 is more stylish. As @klier said the Macan looks a generation behind.

How old is this design by Porsche anyway? Of course it is time for a reset. But my trust in the brand is diminishing with each new product. The Cayenne EV interior is tragic.

For a sports SUV the new Cayenne EV interior very rugged, it lost the elegance of previous Cayenne. This interior would be perfect for a LR Defender.

I do not like the Macan Exterior, but I like his openable roof and the classic interior :)
I'm starting to save money because I really love the new Cayenne so far. Perfect size, perfect instruments, perfect roof.

I've been a big fan of Porsche instrument/screen panels for a long time. I still am. But yes, their charm is more "old school" and the Chinese manufacturers are getting better and better. BMW has a very modern, exciting, futuristic sort of charm. M-B's solution is fine, looking to be of good quality and stylistically unoffensive and easily digestable.

It looks like Porsche is in a very difficult situation that needs urgent attention from its new CEO. The EU doesnt make things easy and if they dont become a little more flexible about the 2035 ICE ban, we could see a major collapse of the German car brands.

The Chinese market is staying away from Porsche EVs so should they only focus on ICE models there?

EU regulators have recently shown glimpse of recognition that 2035 regulations are need fleixbility or rethinking. To what extent concessions will be made, remain to be seen.

Porsche AG long thrived on its relatively "monocultural" 356/911 catalogue of vehicles and its engineering contracts. And yes, there was also the VW Porsche 914/16 that was relatively successful. That began to falter and then came the 928 and 924/944/968 for a more diversified yet exclusively sportscar portfolio. Various bouts with serious financial distress then brought the first Cayenne, certainly not a sportscar. But it paved the way to Porsche becoming an at times very successful multi-vehicle segment player. But has this expansive diversification now bitten Porsche AG in the rump ? Especially in view of the Chinese manufacturers going from strength to strength in the "non-sportscar" segments ? The 911 will ALWAYS be an icon. But the Taycan, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera...? It's quite complicated actually.

Porsche

Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, is a German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports cars, SUVs, and sedans, headquartered in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Owned by Volkswagen AG, it was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche. In the late 1940s, Ferdinand's son Ferry Porsche began building his car, which would result in the Porsche 356.
