This could be the Porsche version of the concepts of VW and Audi (New A8) that are to be presented?

That could be the Porsche brand sister car to Audis' Grand Sphere (formerly "Landjet") concept that previews VAGs' upcoming luxury segment SSP platform triumvirat (Audi, Porsche, Bentley). Could be.

Then again, maybe it will be a prelude of sorts to a BEV Boxster/Cayman replacement. Or a 2 door Taycan derivative (in the spirit of an electric 928). Or an electric hyper-sportscar. Or...??

Auto Motor und Sport is anticipating an electric GT (perhaps a competition car destined to be the basis of a newly-established "Markenpokal") that will provide hints of Porsches' future design direction as well as act as a "rolling laboratory" for future electric drivetrain/battery technologies.

has nothing to do with teaser image

No, it doesn't. It's simply an independent designers' concept exercise. Which I've clearly indicated. Still, I personally find it very interesting.

For me electric Macan and Cayman are the most interesting cars from Germany that are to be announced (followed by next C AMG). Those are going to be some real novelty. Taycan Cross is disappointing. Eagerly looking forward.

So it is most likely the "918 sucessor" prototype.

Back in 2014, car journalists riding in the Porsche 918 Spyder prototype:

I hoped for something more down to earth than another electric hypercar of which there are myriads...

Tenuously by way of suggestion and nothing more.
I think it goes beyond a slight suggestion, it seems to be a finished product in terms of design, I notice in the updated language of the front of square shapes a similarity to the leaked front of the M2, (it feels current), it is electric and its shape seems determined by this fact and other indications that would make it feasible like this, the current Cayman completed its cycle and is many years old, its time has come and this seems to be its future, although in principle its design does not "kill" me with pleasure, I don't dislike it ... we'll see

The production car will not look anything remotely like this concept beyond the most obvious fundamentals (silhouette, two-door, proportions).
