Hot! Porsche: What's Next

Trending discussions, standout car designs, major automotive developments, industry shifts, reviews, and topics generating strong community interest.
Considering what the others brought to IAA, I'm happy with it.

:D

Save the Audi Grand Sphere :p.

What Porsche presented in the form of the Mission R Concept is simply too distant from a road car to genuinely enthuse me. Perhaps we shall see some nuances of some design elements eventually transported to a future serial production model (aka e-Cayman perhaps ?).

Yup, that was a looker.

The Mission R, while an exaggerate effort, is a nice shot of adrenaline.

I hope that is the next electric Cayman hiding behind the motorsport bodykit. It clearly looks like it. The profile looks nice and compact. While I am not a fan of Taycan headlights, they look better than the traditional frog eyes, the main issue with Porsche sportscars.

I do find the A110 a very viable alternative to the 718 with 4 cylinders, being much smaller in size and lighter, but once electric, there looks like less arguments for Alpine over Porsche, because the is little differentiation, battery size is the most determining factor for price, size and weight and performance, the Alpine's spartan interior will unlikely have a big impact on weight reduction, and the heavier the cars, the less the difference is felt.

I doubt the next Cayman will have 1100ps though, hairdressers will be crashing everywhere.

Did Porsche enabled paddle shift (multiple gears?) with new Porsche Mission R? This maybe Porsche's response to Tesla Roadster, a sub 1.9s 0-60mph!

In EVs the paddles are used to adjust the degree of recuperation.

Now that Audi has presented its' Grand Sphere Concept, I wonder when Porsche and Bentley will follow-up with their announced "Landjet" category exercises.

Somehow...maybe just a little bit ?

Man, the day Porsche launches something above the 911...

Front and rear are magnificent, side view is a little short and Nissan-GTR-like, especially behind the front wheel arch.

...some interesting visions by independent designer John Leu* (approx. one year old):

This looks front-mid engine. Makes me wonder what the aborted mid-rear engine 960 would have looked like if it used these design cues.

Not-so-subtle hints being dropped in this mornings' automotive media regarding a future, dedicated electric 911. It may be closer than we think.

if electric Porsche sportscar, better make it 718 or something new, like mini 918. without rear engine layout, there is no need to for 911 shape, which does not even look that good.

While I have no insight in the minds of others, I feel like Andy Preuninger reading is like:

Or maybe I am projecting my own sentiments.

This is an excellent point, but manufacturers are worried about the new designs giving consumers too much of a shock so they have chosen to stick to traditional designs just to be safe.

To their credit, this might have been the smart thing to do. Futuristic designs often die young.
