Comparison tests Porsche 918 vs McLaren P1 vs LaFerrari

Always said 918's tires give it an advantage. P1 isn't being offered on its most aggressive track tire. The Corsas suck, everyone knows that. Until those new 918 tires are available...
So, win/win situation for Porsche.
Btw, 1.5 hours left to the murder :-)

Both standard and Weiss pack cars have the same power....its not so much the BHP, but more the Torque advantage for the 918 over the P1, 1300nm....
Yes that will definitely be useful in conjunction with the AWD out of slower corners in low gears where the rpm spacing is more significant. If however we go to the other extreme and look at turns 15 and 18 (where F1 cars pull 6g) on Suzuka, the P1 would likely have a clear advantage in that corner and probably on the section between 9 and 2 as well. The huge straights would be another plus for the P1.

Disliking my comment 'Boyko' while it was directed at Citylad, oops 'Apolo'? Loyal friends. lol

Dislike because not accurate. Why are you so nervous today? Dont you have anything left to agree with at mclarelife?

It will almost always be faster on superior rubber. P1's optional tier is the Trofeo R, so that should make it a fair fight. (And please Apolo, don't start explaining how eco-friendly 918's tires are, we've heard the story many times before.)
Interesting point. I hadn't heard this about the tyres before. It did strike me as odd that the RWD P1 went faster than the 918 on Autocar's Wet Handling track too.

Respectfully WT was not there, neither was I, it was our friend, I will ask in the morning and revert

Running (curb) weight, without a driver is ~1,500kg. Those hyperbrids need a lot of fluids, so it all adds up. The battery for instance needs 10 liters of coolant, the kinetic suspension fluid, etc.. This is coming straight from the factory, so no need to ask your friend. ;)

In view of the claims, that have not been met,? I would prefer to seek the views of an owner that has weighed his car, sure you understand. eh

According to Sport Auto, the Weissach 918's kerb weight is 1,750kg.

Here you will find all technical data from the test of this vehicle. Fuel consumption is tested at 11.8 liters. The car has a power output of 887 hp and a torque of 1280 Nm at 8700 U / min. The top speed is 345 km / h.The acceleration 0-100 km / h in 2.6 seconds. The curb weight of the test car is 1750 kg and the base price is 839,426 Euro.

I didn't pull the figure from the media release. I have a friend who works on these cars on daily basis and I'm pretty sure he knows the P1 inside-out. Are you implying that I should not trust him? :):sneaky:

like I said, despite all the claims, the P1 even after today, is yet to be shown to be faster on any track than a 918...?
Don't really see what's left for it after today...
Do you expect 900hp RWD car to be faster than a 900hp AWD car out of hairpins and 30mph corners? Because so far that's all the same track tests have really looked at, where there are times for both cars.

The last four pages of this thread are just people arguing, like they're children in a playground. This isn't internal combustion. It's supposed to be about the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Unfortunately, that's what happens when Apolo is around. He turned every thread on McLarenLife into GT3/918 threads.

I apologise on my part for derailing the thread. Cheers. (y)

Oh...I was just wondering why did we suddenly get an influx of new members who become so active immediately.

I am afraid you have misquoted the article online. In the body of the text of said article as well as in the table it states quite clearly that the weight of the vehicle tested, as I had cited earlier already, with a full tank is 1642 kg. The 1750 kg figure is listed as manufacturer's data ("Hersteller") and may well be referring to the non-WS package and we know that Porsche is rather conservative with it's figures.

Anyone can shed some light on why the 918 that did the 'Ring lap has this roof (i.e. not stock/lightened)? Also, this is the reason why McLaren pulled out of the TopGear test comparison...

Yes, I can..
Pre production WS pack in the first pic.
Non WS pack production version in the second.
Also, different camera angles....

Btw, can you comment all the Tessa stripes on every P1 gap on P1's Ring attempt? Do you need pictures?
Weak attempt, btw..
