does anybody know it they used the roof on the 918 when setting its laptime (improves airflow compared to having the roof off)
It was more of a tongue-in-cheek comment that somebody who owns 7 Porsche's, has a 918 on order, and who obviously has a full and rich life, is wasting his time arguing with strangers on the internet.
I doubt Sir Richard Branson would bother himself with such trivialities.
I openly admit 50% of my time is spent arguing on here, and you could argue I have better things to distract me, but I'm a stubborn bar steward.
also why run the 918 with the roof off?Why didn't retest the Porsche too ?
Nothing to say they did.also why run the 918 with the roof off?
Nothing to say they did.
That doesn't really make any sense though. You could also argue that on a track with such short straights the drag would be negligible for a 900hp car and counteracted by the weight reduction and lower centre of gravity. They don't actually show the timed lap for either car apart from the 1:11.2 at the end.when setting a lap time he was driving with the helmet on (video backs up this statement), did you see him drive with a helmet and the roof on in the 918
i'm no aerodynamic expert but having the roof on will work better for the air flowing over the car
Well we don't know about similar tyres. Ferrari, even as an Italian automaker, ditched their countrymen at Pirelli to change to Michelin and it saved them a second with the 458 at Bedford Autodrome (1:20.3 -> 1:19.3). McLaren only have themselves to blame for flogging the dead horse that is Pirelli.Ok, with similar tyres 918 wins.
About weight, QR tested the 918 without WP @ 1,716 kgs
Then Ferrari will stop giving them previews and deliver a horse's head probably. Before long EVO will get hold of a customer's car, and if they're on a track they can remove the registration plates so Ferrari can't identify which owner it was. As long as it's not Jay Kay's lime green one!

..and TrofeoR are race tyres... The homologation for the street is just a surplus! Not necessarily. 918's Michelin tires are much more aggressive than P1's Corsas, so it will not gain as much.

Some mnfrs use TrofeoR as a "refugium peccatorum "![]()
