Phaeton Phaeton Edition 5

I have always liked the Phaeton .....I even like it more than the S class and 7 series.

This Edition 5 is extra special.

Is the Phaeton still available in the US?

Nice interior...
I always wanted a Phaeton but it was too expensive and large. Volkswagen should make a smaller Phaeton like the Citroen C6.

You will see something like that in the rumoured Passat Coupe - though the fate of that project remains unknown. :usa7uh:

The Phaeton is no longer sold new in the US... But you still can pick up second hand units at really cheap prices.

If I were truly in a position to do so I'd get a nice 2005 Phaeton coming back off a lease late this year. It really can't be beat for the prices I'm seeing. I mean think about this, a new V6 Passat for about 34-36K for a 2005 Phaeton V8 for the same money. Warranty and service are the only things to think about with the larger Vee-dub. I want a VAG product for my second car, something I don't have to suffer with during tricky winter driving like I have this year! I want either a used S4 or Phaeton, but reality says it will be a new Jetta.

Having a reliable, trustworthy dealer nearby you is very, very important when you own a Phaeton. Do you have one?

I don't think the Jetta comes with AWD... Why not a Passat? :usa7uh:

Yep a brand new one as a matter of fact. So that part is covered.

Well I really wasn't looking for AWD per say, so a FWD Jetta will do, anything but RWD like my CLK. A Passat would likely be out of the budget. :D Or at least one done up the way I'd want it. I dunno though I'll have to drive the 2.0L Turbo model and see, but the V6 I know is out due to $$$$.

That's great news Marcus... It's obvious what I would recommend, but I'll say it anyway: Go for the Phaeton if you have the budget. :D

Jetta 2.0TFSI is great too. :usa7uh:

Yeah a Phaeton would be nice, but I have to make some changes before that can happen! I'm going to drive one this summer anyway though.

I didn't know you liked VW that much Marcus.

What problems have you had with the CLK in the winter Marcus?

BTW: who is that in your anvatar? ...it looks like Dionne Warwick.

Yep, I'm a big fan of VW products too.

Oh the CLK is a bear in the snow. We were lulled into thinking that the winter would be mild and it was from Dec to about the last week of Jan, but Feb has been brutal. The cold of course is a given, and not a problem, but the CLK absolutely hates the SNOW. My god I had forgotten what a handful a RWD car can be in the snow. I'm sure things would have been much better if I had gotten snow tires like I was supposed too. :t-banghea :t-banghea If I don't get a different car for winter next year I will most definitely have the snows put on like I'm supposed to! Since it is now March I think I should be ok now since it doesn't snow much from here on out, but there have been some harrowing times behind the wheel this winter!!! I never got stuck anywhere, but Gee-Whiz it was tough!

The woman in my Avatar is a very young Nancy Wilson. Are you familiar with her?

Ahh Okay, that is interesting ....still, it will be summer soon -- I think you are going to have a lot of fun with the top down -- you will soon forget the trouble you had in the snow

Yes I know of Nancy Wilson ...so you like Jazz huh Marcus, that's great.:usa7uh:

Oh yes I'm counting the days until I can let the top down. I didn't get but one decent day last year to let the top down after I bought the car. Yeah I'm sure once the summer hits the all the spinning and contant ESP (!) light flickerings will be a distant memory.

Yes I like Jazz. Nancy Wilson is IMO the classiest Black woman alive today, she is beyond reproach. Off topic I know. :D

Oh man! Should I get that and park it beside my S600L or should I totally forget about the 5?

I think it looks GREAT!

Having a Phaeton if you already have a S600 is rather redundant if you ask me... :usa7uh:
