Its shamefull to be honest for cars over 100K

Shameful, is putting it mildly in a well behaved manner. Wish I could really spill my guts/thoughts in a bad manner on this subject. In short, it's a ripoff!:t-banghea

Everything is trickling out now as the initial release was ahead of the original date so you had longer to wait for all the other good stuff. More videos etc will follow soon. As well as footage of the car @ M-Festival and Goodwood. In the meantime some other M news is fast approaching on Thursday as well as a BMW M3 Concept Car (think Motorsport) which will be unveiled at the BMW Welt on July 15th.

SCOTT27,

What kinda M news? A whole new product? Or a package for the M5 or something of that sort? M7 would be a nice news story too! :)

Regards,

SCOTT, we need in-depth technical information on the mechanicals (stats, dimensions, pics and so on) for an editorial feature. When and where will this information become available? If you could assist, please PM me.

^Heh,Santa will have something for us die hard BMW fans in Christmas time if U are correct,Levi68.. :D

Was just about to ask for a video..was youtubing for one earlier today:)

And whoa..i think im in love..
NO M car ever sounded this good..

Is this a joke ? This new turbo engine sounds simply awfull. So awfull infact that they used the old car's sound in the official promo(s). Look at 0:23:

Actually that is the V8 you hear. There is no point in adding the sound from a superceded engine to emulate the note of a new engine.

Actually that is a V10 I hear and anybody who heard the e60 m5 in action can confirm it. And sure there is a point: to mislead people into thinking that an engine which obviously sounds like crap sounds like a naturally aspirated V10. And that, my friend, is no V10. And like I already said the muted V8 sound (which is the actual sound of the car at full throtle) can be heard just before that..

So you dont like the engine sound from AMG's and other muscle cars?

I dont know but I've only heard like 3 seconds from the production ready M5. It's too soon to call it awful.

Who said that ? How in the world did you come to the conclusion that if I don't like how this M5 sounds, I don't like how other "muscle cars" (lol) sound ?

It's the same engine from the X5M, and I already know that sounds awfull. And even Chris Harris commented when he test drove the M5 that it lacks induction noise and didn't like the sound it made so..

Are you sure about that man? sounds abit deep to be a V10 to me..it would be a kick in the nutts if they used the old M5´s sound..
To me what i hear in the breif seconds of the video sounds great..
if thats the 10 or 8..god knows.. but we will find out veeeerrry soon what the real deal sounds like..
Hence further doubt as to why they would use a false sound

I refuse to accept nonsense claims about BMW using the beautiful V10 sounds to fake and mislead people by adding it to the F10 M5 clip. No way any respectable company would do such a thing?

Because those 3 seconds I hear so far the new M5 sounds like AMG Mercedes with its deep base.

Chris also said that the engine sound was still under development.

Same engine as X5M yes bu there are ways to change the sound, like a different exhaust.

Sorry dude but you just sound upset because BMW are abandon N/a engines ;) You are too quick to judge. I seriously doubt its going to sound awful.

This is the only sound we heard from the production ready car so far and its like 3 seconds.

LOL, I've read a lot of stuff at forums over the years, but this one takes the cake.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
