Golf [Official] VW Golf GTI Concept

It's classic Golf GTI, the rest try too hard to impress where as the original doesn't have to. Was hoping for more power but we don't always get what we want now do we.

The bad news is wife has just seen it and now she's bending my ear wanting one. lol

It's not the absolute hot-hatch anymore though. Now that there's a Focus RS, a Megane RS and an Astra OPC the GTI is no more the best driver's car...

Time to change your signature again? ;)

I will hold on judging its driving ability until I try it because this time round it's got a better diff but outright performance is way down on what I hoped. That being said the 210hp of our last one never really left me feeling short changed.

It looks stunning. There's no other way to put without resorting to the plethora of over-used Golf clichés like "quintessentially GTI" or "All-new-yet-altogether-familiar".

Very happy with the new wheels except for one thing. Who can tell me what it is (clue it's a pet hate of mine when it comes to such designs)?

The Riddler strikes again!:D I honestly haven't a clue, just hope it's NOT the black inner of the rims!?...I like it for it's anti-brake dust;)

Looks just like a GTi should and would, stunning!(y)

The red strip in front makes the car look like it has bloodshot eyes.

Otherwise an impressive effort; I love the thin-rimmed steering wheel that looks like a derivative from the one in the Beetle. Lovely to hold.

I have to say - and I hardly ever do go this far - but this new GTI is simply perfect. Astounding. That metallic red one... oh my soul!

It is perhaps a bit too much looking at the R8 for some design details at first glance. I will need getting used to this.

...to the next imaginary car. Can't wait to see what it'll be this time (y)

No handbrake... shouldnt a classic have handbrake?

And you thought they were going to engineer a handbrake just for the GTI? The new Golf has no handbrake, it was obvious the GTI wasn't getting one either :)

:D

Who can tell me what's more weird, apart from the lowering kit?

Volkswagen Golf GTI concept was held together by straps

German engineering at its finest:D

Volkswagen likes to promote the "power of German engineering," but they might want to rethink that after seeing these pictures of the Golf GTI concept.
Vau-max.de was snapping photos of the car, when they noticed something a little unusual - straps pulling the springs down for a lower ride height. While it's common knowledge that most concepts are more about show and less about go, it's still embarrassing when a company gets caught faking it.
On the bright side, at least the Golf didn't start smoking like the Lincoln MKZ concept at the North American International Auto Show.
