Jetta [Official] Volkswagen Jetta (A6)

Love the understated look of it, simplicity is brilliant in a world of over designed futuristic cars. Glad a company has steped down a knotch from the space aged cars and designed something....Normal?

I agree with this, and I'm glad about that very same thing. I give major props to VW, for going against the rat race and designing something that looks like a *Car* here, something simple, and not over-tried.

....However, my goodness, that is bland. Jetta's shouldn't be "exciting", but these previous 2 Generations had something that got them their VASTLY predominant clientele (at least around where I live), being younger Females.... And that is "cuteness".

This one looks like a Korean Economical Car, namely a Kia. It looks very safe in every which practicality speaking way.... However it doesn't look Euro, and it doesn't have that "cute cuddly VW'ness" to it, that again, made it hugely popular with Female drivers, especially younger generations.

Maybe it´s the german Toyota... but not in Germany. Here Jettas are pretty exotic, all is Golf, Golf, Golf...

It´s the german Toyota in Toyota land: USA!
:D

I was referring to VW as a whole, not just concerning the Jetta, though you are right, I believe the Jetta is the best-selling VW, here in America. What I was speaking to, though, was that Volkswagen the Company is not unlike Toyota in that they cater their products to the masses, which usually lends to more stream-lined, less daring looking vehicles, such as this new Jetta. :t-cheers:

VW says it didn't cut costs on Jetta, Passat interiors

Volkswagen

has been widely criticized for cheapening the interiors of its latest Jetta and Passat models, but the automaker’s top U.S. designer says not a dime was spared in design of either car.
When VW’s new Jetta hit the market, many in the media lamented that fact that the German automaker had sacrificed interior quality in the name of achieving a lower price point. The same could be said for the new Passat, which debuted a few months later. However, Jae Min, chief designer-group interior at VW’s Design Center California, says VW didn’t cut corners in either car.
“We didn’t take (cost) out,” Min told WardsAuto. “We just rebalanced where (the money was spent). We moved it from here to there.”
He added: “Whatever was taken out went right back in.”
We find Min’s words hard to believe – especially considering VW clearly cut costs in other areas, such as the Jetta’s beam rear axle – but the strategy certainly has worked. Jetta sales increased 43.9 percent last year and Passat sales were up a whopping 80.9 percent. Moreover, transaction prices have remained steady for both models, despite a drop is starting MSRP.

The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid will hit dealers near the end of 2012, and we've now learned that the new compact fuel-sipper will be priced from $24,995, (*) excluding the $795 destination charge.

For that price, buyers will be treated to a vehicle packed with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a 27-horsepower electric motor. Total system output is rated at 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and the only transmission on offer is a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. According to Volkswagen's estimates, the Jetta Hybrid will return a combined fuel economy rating of 45 miles per gallon, making it the most fuel-efficient model in the Jetta range. The Hybrid will sprint to 60 miles per hour in just under nine seconds, and it can even cruise in EV mode at speeds as high as 44 mph.
