ID.4 [Official] Volkswagen ID.4

I had the opportunity to have a brief look at an ID 4 at my local VW dealership. Without having arranged an appointment hence no test drive. The car, anthracite with an anthracite/saddle interior, was a demonstrator parked outside of the showroom and filthy with road grime. Still, I liked what I could inspect-inside and out. I. however, would certainly wait a year or two before "pulling the trigger" on an ID 4. I reckon that a MY 2023/24 example will be a far better automobile courtesy of over-the-air updates, dealership conducted downloads ,some modified hardware and acquired routine in the assembly process.

Is the ID range plagued by software issues?

Yes, there are some indeed. For example, voice recognition is far from optimal. And some functions are neither very user-friendly (aka too complicated) nor are the response times quick. All anecdotal of course, as my very brief personal experience with the ID 4 will not permit any sort of competent analysis. VAG, of course, is promising rapid rectification of the software flaws.

I have a friend with an ID4. The software seems to be much better than when she picked up it up several months ago. Seems like the updates really helped.

These appear to be becoming increasingly popular with taxi fleets. They're becoming quite commonplace now.

This particular example is cruising the streets of my city, past the Alsterarkaden towards Mönckebergstrasse.

You can get an ID4 for free. All you need to do is retrieve it from 3,000 metres from the bottom of the Atlantic.

Did this poor fellow simply get stuck with one of those occasional "lemons" ?:

Tell him to trade it for a Kia Sportage. Recharging time in only five minutes and no range anxiety.

So sad when a dream car turns into a nightmare.
