Jetta [Official] Volkswagen Jetta (A6)

Ha! You are quite right about this. That Bora actually looked good!

Love the understated look of it, simplicity is brilliant in a world of over designed futuristic cars. Glad a company has steped down a knotch from the space aged cars and designed something....Normal?

Though a bit dull, a bit bland, I admit the new Jetta is simply surprising because of its overall simplicity, quality and, nonetheless, price tag. Not as sexy or sporty as the new Ford Focus, but not at all complicated or overdesigned.

Is the new Jetta that 'NCS' Volkswagen was talking about a year ago?Because, if I remember well, the New Compact Sedan was tipped US-only. And, then, when all new generation Jetta hits Europe as well, we might see a more design-ellaborated(closer in terms of looks to the NCC Concept) and a bit pricier.

The design is a bit dull, but most VWs are. More concerning to me is that the design looks cheap to me, the front looks almost stripped down. It looks like a very base model. I don't know. It just doesn't say quality from the outside. It doesn't look upscale at all. Disappointing, but I guess maybe they had to strip it down considering the price.

The Bora above is my fav Jetta/Bora of all time. My brother has a TDi and granted he has had many problems since the beginning it's a great little car.

You might say that it looks dull and conservative, but let's not forget that the Corolla is an eyesore and yet it sells like hot cakes. Why? Simple: It's cheap and economical and that's all it matters for the American buyer looking for an small saloon.

You're right, I don't dispute the fact that it will probably sell like crazy. I just thinks it looks a little cheap. The rear actually reminds me a lot of this:

Couldn't find a better photo, but I think it's the shape of the lights and liscense plate area.

I like it ... a lot in fact. And to people saying it is a "simple" design ...doh, it is a VW Jetta, it is supposed to be simple. There is always the Passat cc if you want some thing more dashing. Oh, and I think the present Jetta sucks.

Some real life shots - very conservative style, but I think people will love this.

Well, I'm not a big fan of VWs new philosophy to convert the same design to every single model…

I agree, the front and that bumper especially look great, only biiiig letdown is that ancient interior. On the other hand, since they've been building it for a decade now, you you're getting premium build quality :D, no more surprises there.

The Jetta has always lived in the shadows of the Passat, it doesn't need to shout about being a Jetta!

Anyway, I hate over-designed tacky interiors that are becoming more common. You want something calm and relaxing to sit!

Been away for a week or so, just catching up on all the new cars.

Surprisingly this looks pretty good. It looks so dull in the spy shots, but this isn't bad. Pretty much better looking than anything else in the class, but still very conservative. Only the Mazda 3 jumps out more style wise with its fish mouth. The new Focus pops too, but the VW will trump them in driving qualities and interior.

The GLI version will be the one to have. This is good for VW and a cheaper base price, and if they keep the quality they will be fine....

Thats NMS the Passat replacement your thinking of ;)

Jetta 6

Front nice VW face to be expected.

Side The C pillar from the Mk5 Jetta was Phaeton like this one has been cheapened IMO.

Rear I like the Audiesque rear lights but as stated above it does have a hint of Kia in it.

Interior Looks very cheap to my eyes.

Verdict waiting to see it in real life.

Looks pretty boring, and isn't VW basically the German Toyota anyway? I mean as far as mass appeal, catering to a wide audience, etc.
Maybe it´s the german Toyota... but not in Germany. Here Jettas are pretty exotic, all is Golf, Golf, Golf...

It´s the german Toyota in Toyota land: USA!
:D

I have always secretly fancied the booted Golfs, So much in fact I had a Bora.

The thing that always attracted me to them, however, is this...

When they have powerful engines, they are proper Q-cars (sleepers) and I'm a sucker for Q-cars.
