ID.3 [Official] Volkswagen ID.3

I don't think that's the exact model which is an old 737 200 with JT8D low bypass ratio turbofans. Noise regulations alone would preclude that aircraft from being flown these days.

No, you're right. @LaArtist doesn't REALLY fly for Hooters Air, despite him being willing to give his left nut to do so.

I usually dislike the MPV like profile when it comes to hatchbacks with the semi-continuous slope from the bonnet up to the roof, which is why I didn't like the design of the 5th gen Golf.

However, this ID.3 also has a short bonnet, but somehow I kinda like the looks, which follows the usual inoffensive VW theme. It could be due to the overall dimensions of the car and the shorter front overhang, or some visual illusion that I can't put my finger on...

Here is how ID3 looks next to Mk7 Golf.

The rear lights appear to be one-piece, so I suppose the the tailgate opens together with them like the Audi Q models?

no the whole rear light stays put, the tailgate is cut around the lights.

I see, so they are spit tail lights after all then...
I was too lazy to scroll a few pages back, but that little part towards the logo indeed is spit off from the main unit.

I really like this car. I am hearing it's already sold out in my country.

But the production of the first year is quite limited. It will be app 100 k compared to 700-800 k for the Golf.

Yeah, I was suspecting as much. But still positive news. It would also sell out if they managed to make 400k a year, imo.

It appears quite a bit larger than the Golf in this pic, mainly extra height and width. Will be very interesting to read driving comparisons between the 2 cars once the ID3 is released officially for market.

I was considering an ID.3 for my wife next year, but if the Skoda Vision production version looks anything like the show car I’m buying our first Skoda.

Looks great, is it based off the ID3?

Yes it is, this is the Skoda version. Hopefully the look transitions to the production version due next year.
It's build on the same platform, so yes it is pretty similar to the ID3. But it is considerably larger than the ID3. I think that is the Skoda version of the upcoming ID4, which is also indicated by the name Vision IV.
