M5 [Official] The new BMW M5 CS

The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production (1995 to 1998, 2023 to 2024). Official website: BMW M

"But for now, the CS is a prime example of what generations of development can do. Its combination of performance, usability and unending charm are what highlight the CS as one of the all-time greats. It’s been a privilege to have it in this year’s test."

The journo reviews have been unanimously positive. I really must find the opportunity to drive this machine. I think it could just be one of Bavaria's very best.

More than positive, the unanimity goes further, all those who try it seem very surprised, with poetic epithets almost striving to describe the sensations that they did not expect to be so superior to everything known.

I had not read or seen reactions like this since what they expressed for decades back amazed by the first M`s, I think I'm not exaggerating, you just have to read
Porsche who?

I only had a brief drive in thee M5 CS. But it was nostalgic throwback to the my very first E36 M3 experience from almost 25 years ago. Except everything tuned to a 11. Car felt so taut and buttoned down. I wasn't even looking for one, but it was instant love and I am now. But it is really a pity you have to get a CS now for what every M used to be.

The only video where it didn't get much praise was this one. Of course totally too much biased for US competitors in my opinion.

Camisa and Randy are are awesome reviewers. I have only heard only great things about the Blackwing from people who have driven one.

I also like them, especially Pobst, but not this video. I believe that Cadillac is great to drive, but I don't believe it's on M5 CS level.

I would like to see more reviews and comparisons on the Blackwing. It appears to exhibit some old school charm. And while Randy's an exceptional driver, I'm really rather surprised his time with it bested that of the CS's.

Why are you surprised? CS is just another M5 Comp with slightly more power, with slightly adjusted suspension and steering, forged wheels, M4 seats and only 40 kg lighter. Here is the only test where both cars were weighted and dynoed. In short both testers are not impressed. The car is good but not for that price tag.

Thanks for your expert opinion, you found a video (one - 1), where they think the same as you, there is no one more blind than the one who does not want to see

Too bad there are so many victims of ///Marketers who cannot understand one simple thing - an M5 comp has more upgrades compared to an M5, than an M5 CS compared to M5 comp. And you pay 60K more just for some steering reprogramming, engine mapping, M8 shocks and absence of soft close doors that weigh a maximum of 3 kilograms... on a 1.9 tons car but you get full electric uncomfortable seats without ventilation from M4))) And mostly you pay for a worthless CS badge) What is CS? Club Sport? Competition Sport? Coupe Sport?)

And I found a video (one -1) without some rejoicing admiring silly labradors who were allowed to twist some donuts on a cool car) I know how rare it is nowadays.

Another video from a former M5 Comp owner. Not impressed) Two videos already)

!!

Are there people who are actually paying such a "market adjustment"?
I read the car sold, I don't know for how much. The market for the M5 CS is currently around 175-180k. Funny thing is long term you will probably lose less buying a CS for 170k than a regular M5 for 100k.

"Special" cars are selling for crazy markups. GT3s are going for close to 300k!

Could all come crashing down soon too if the fed starts raising the rate.

I don't understand why M8 Grand Coupe is faster than M5 Competition. Both have same engine and M5 is supposed to be 100kg lighter. So should be faster ?!

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
