X5 M / X6 M [Official] BMW X6 M (F96)

The X5 M is the high-performance variant of the X5. In April 2009, the X6 M version was announced, with a 408 kW (547 hp) version of the BMW S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first vehicles from BMW M GmbH to have xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmissions, and are also crossovers as opposed to passenger cars.
X4M and X3M are merged so lets do it!

So are we going to merge the base X3 and X4 threads too? If that's the case then why even have an X4 forum?

The X3 and X4 (and the M versions) are two separate models that just happen to have been launched at the same time. And if there is an argument to have the X3 and X4 in the same thread, then you could make the same argument for having just one 3 Series thread which contains every iteration of that, from the sedan to the Gran Turismo to the Touring. But because they were launched at different times, nobody is requesting that are they?

Put it this way. If the X5 M was launched today, and then the X6 M was launched next month, nobody would be saying "post any comments about the X6 M in the X5 M thread" would they?

The X6 M looks terrible at the back, like a truck crashed into its backside. The wheels also look small in the wheel arches. The X5 M looks much much better. I do like that Urban green, mix it with black trim and wheels and it really stands out.

Agree completely in relation to the other models...But! They were launched on the same day, and the X4M and X3M threads both work really well. So why not?

So we arrange threads based on when they were launched? Why?

But they don't work really well. We currently have the X4 M thread in the X3 forum, whilst the base X4 thread is in the X4 forum.

The forums are structured based on model. Period. And that's how it should be. Just because two mdoels happen to be launched together it doesn't mean we have to lump them in the same forum, especially when you think the base X3 and X4 forums should be separate.

I can only see the X5M thread I saw this thread by chance and I don’t think I’m the only one. Posted X6M pictures there as well, so merging both threads would be better.

Funny, I am opposite. The color is fantastic (if you're talking about Urban Green), but the car itself is one of the ugliest ever from BMW :D

Also, much more important......it's sad germancarforum.com doesn't congratulate me anymore with my birthday. I used to get a system message, and I feel thoroughly left out now.

Happy Birth Day dude...

You don't see it because I created the thread, and as a consequence of being on your "ignored" list, it's hidden from you. And no, the threads should not be merged just to suit you!

If they were merged, which forum should they go in? The X5 forum or the X6 forum?

I really don't understand why two different models which just happen to have been launched on the same day is causing such confusion!

There are separate X5 and X6 forums, so for as long as that is the case there should be separate threads for the M versions. If somebody clicks on the X6 forum they would then think there is no thread for the X6 M because it would be hidden in the X5 forum.

And if we create a singular thread for the X5 M and X6 M,surely by the same logic there...

You're right about that. Better keep it like this then. But it feels so split now if you catch my drift...

I don't know if anyone noticed, but between the official presentation of the X6 (July 2) and the X6M (October 1), only 3 months passed, which is the shortest time (as far as I know), in the presentation of any M model with respect to the launch of the car from which it derives.

Normally it takes 1 year and up to a year and a half, hopefully BMW will continue with these developments like that, more in parallel.

Dat roofline!

beats the (much improved) but egg shaped GLE and the boring Q8
I had not noticed until I saw them here, that in the bottom of the profile and rear bumpers there are details / parts in silver that feel very good, give it a good touch

It’s the X line trim...very nice hey!

A true successor for the first gen.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
