Does anyone know if there's any actual difference between the stock standard seats ("sports seats?") in the G60 and the "luxury seating package" other than a couple of more adjustments and the ventilation? Both my wife and I noted that the regular seats were kind of hard feeling.

Here's the description of this option from the USA ordering template -

"Luxury Seating Package
$1,350
On long-distance trips, you’ll travel in ease and arrive refreshed with the Luxury Seating Package. Ergonomically designed Multi-contour front seats circulate cool or warm air to keep you comfortable behind the wheel."

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that one salesperson said there's really no difference other than the adjustability and ventilation, while another indicated that the seats themselves were different with the luxury seats being more cushioned.

Very interesting comments he has of the new base 520i G60 model, especially the interior (very negative comments on material quality and generic looks - he thinks there is evidence of cost cutting, less luxurious than G30).

The driving experience is also mixed, the steering and handling seems more like a 7-series, softer and less responsive than the G30., but the ride comfort is good and supple and noise levels low. Overall the chassis is still very good.

Very positive comments on the engine and gearbox, smooth, punchy, more than enough power for 90% of people. 6sec faster from 100 to 200 than the previous 520i, although strangely it battled to even hit the claimed top speed of 230km/h, he managed flat out GPS of 226km/h.

I downloaded my iTunes music to a thumb drive. Does anyone know if the G60 (540) has a USB C input in the glovebox of the car and if this will allow me to plug in this thumbdrive (with a USB-A to USB-C adapter) and listen to my music through the audio system of the car?

Or does the car itself have an ssd drive that I could upload this music into?

If it's like the i5, it would appear the USB-C ports are in the centre console front and back, rather than the glove box. But in principle, provided the 540's infotainment is on par with the i5, it should work (subject to file format and thumb drive formatting).

Anyone know of any "hands on" reviews of the 540xi? Interested to see how reviewers feel about that iconic in-line 6 compared to the electric cars and the 530.

Also, does anyone know if the interior ambient lighting in the 540 is better or different from the 530? I read somewhere that the 540 ambient lighting is, in fact, different and better than that found in the 530.

So, BMW's new 5-series. A cheap copy of their own G30/31. Main stream design, overloaded with plastic. 'The business saloon". The German car industry is digging their own grave. The Far-East (Korean and more or less Chinese) are better designed and have better specs. American Tesla, look what they have done in the past 5-10 years. from zero to the bench mark concerning BEV's. The German car industry is lost with their current strategy. BMW: premium brand with cheap "non premium" products. Good luck BMW.

I'll share my take on the G60 (ICE variants). I was going to order the new M-B E-Class but there seem to be some significant delays that may delay delivery for up to a year. It also has weird packages that contain items I have no interest in and which drive up the price pretty wildly. The G60, OTOH, is very fairly priced and the Executive package has everything I'd possibly want in a vehicle. I've owned two previous 5's and been extremely happy with them. I've owned them each for over six years and they've been incredibly reliable with no significant maintenance issues. The reliability of the M-B is a bit more of a question mark. I much prefer the external design of the new E-Class but I think the interior is a bit over the top... kind of "Tokyo at night." BMW handles the interior much better in my view. It's still exciting and fun but it seems to be much more well integrated and, for lack of a better word, 'adult.'

The exterior of the G60 is something that will take some getting used to, particularly the front view. I really like the rear and the tail light design but I think BMW really should have offered some more interesting paint color choices. The interior color options are also underwhelming both with the upholstery choices and the dashboard wood options. M-B has far nicer available choices here. But as a complete package taking into account ride, seat comfort, handling, price and reliability I think the G60 pulls ahead so that's where I'm putting my money. The fact that I'll probably receive the vehicle in early March is another huge plus as the availability of the MB is one huge question mark at this point.

As with most things, this is all very subjective, of course, but those are some of my thoughts.

I don't see any G30/31 in the design

Wow!!!

IMO, from that angle, without the M Pack and with those horrible rims, it could be any other car. Looks like a modern Fiat Tempra.

Probably the worst looking modern 5er in base trim.

Incredibly, I like the car when equipped with the M pack.
I think these are the wheel options to avoid along with the other 18 inch base rims. Hopefully once the LCI has arrived, I wish BMW would get rid of these non sense aerodynamic rims, and then replace them by the classier wheels.
