Yet, the funny thing is in BMW's fanboys fantasy land, they think Skoda is copying BMW, when it has been almost a decade since the chiseled look has been adopted at VAG for Seat and Skoda.

Design trends doesn’t mean some1 is copying.
The hysteria is ridiculous in both directions, if BMW copies Skoda or the other way arround.
What BMW really does is following trends as I said previously, mostly from French and Asian car makers instead of being an innovative trendsetter as it was back in Bangle era.
What makes it pathetic is that they introduce design solutions from cars they are on the end or already ended up the life cycle, like the 5er taking trends from the Peugeot 508 or 7er from already forgotten Citroen Cactus.

No1 stays on top for ever, but I think the BMW design heritage is too important to be that lame.

Established designers are hired for their body of work. It is not unfeasible for a designer to use tried and tested ideas but apply them in another form to another manufacturer.

Take BMW’s flame surfacing which is a philosophy found on any car today albeit with a different interpretation. The Skoda influence under the guidance of Josef Kavan is seen in the taut lines and chiseler surfaces of more modern BMW’s.

There are similarities as design trends especially in industrial design are progressive and forever evolving. Designers can come up with the same conclusion but interpreted differently.

Already Superb and Kodiaq are a distance apart from their latest 7S concept. So we know the next generation will be more radical than the latest models which are more VW looking than before.

And I thought I was a BMW fanboy, damn. It was funny to see the similarities between Superb and 5er, especially the grille shape and bonnet lines. I don’t really care if some individuals don’t find it funny, lol. No one says Skoda copied BMW, or the other way around, cause I’m pretty sure all of the automakers have copied themselves at some point. They both look great, and that’s about it. Nothing deep. Let’s be real though, that grille shape with the vertical lines scream BMW to me. Especially the bonnet lines. It’s probably because of the influence of Jozef Kabaň, but still.

That if you don't like the new 5er design that you aren't evaluating design properly? Or that you have a poor understanding of design? That not liking the 5er is ignorant or trolling? Is that what you're saying?

What the hell is this? You understand that design is subjective. The 5er is not objectively good looking.

It’s the latest in a long line of BS in order to compensate for a questionable looking car. First it was design by measurement, then it was you need to have a higher understanding of design. Now it’s the “must be something wrong with you” angle. Funny you don’t see this dumb spin in Aston, Maserati, and other threads that feature what most consider to be good looking cars.

It seems that you don't either have read the previous posts of the conversation and still get involved, evaluating the designs, eras and models of the Skoda in comparison to the others because the designer is the same.
