Fully agree. I'd go a notch above and say is the most beautiful Audi ever: a streamlined, purposeful design before they got obsessed with uber complicated headlights detailing (and mean looking shapes) and ever increasing grill size.

For me, the most beautiful Audi ever was the original R8 coupé. That was a showstopper and still looks fantastic on the road.

People don't need a dedicated sports car anymore to be fast I guess.... it's a cultural change.

Absolutely agree here. One of my favourite modern classics on the road. And still a bargain.

Interesting point.. but here’s food for thought.. what constitutes a sports car in 2024? Does a Tesla 3 dual motor qualify? Does an X3M? Does an Ariel Atom? A Urus maybe?

The same as in 1990.

Tesla, no of course not
X3M, no of course not
Atom, hardly a car
Urus, no of course not

It also had a brilliant looking interior. Like Martin said it's not a great driver's car, but for looks and interior design its a collection piece.

The current interior is much, much better IMO. An all time classic that's aging like a fine wine.
Then again, I am of the other group here. The one which thinks the first gen TT is a fugly hairdresser car and the first gen R8 not much better.
