Audi Patents Show New 2017 TT RS Performance Coupe

b969a1d17dd39cb35e5dee7220c9e330.webp

We’ve known for a while now that Audi is readying a TT RS, but these manufacturer patent drawings shed some light to the high-performance model’s aesthetics.
third generation TT giving it a new front bumper with enlarged corner air vents and a new rear apron and diffuser combo with the RS sub-brand’s signature twin oval pipes incorporated within.

Two details worth mentioning are the front grille, which on the production car should carry a honeycomb insert instead of the regular one seen here, and the twin horizontal lines above the grille on the hood, which could point to additional venting for the engine – for what it’s worth, the tester we spied last month, had this section covered up.

There are still conflicting reports on what will power the top model in the TT’s range, with some suggesting it will come with an improved version of the latest RS3 Sportback’s 2.5-liter turbo’d inline-five producing 370hp in regular trim and 400hp or more in Plus guise, and others that it will get the VW Group’s new 2.0-liter turbo four previewed on the 414hp (420PS)2014 TT Quattro Sport Concept and set to power the VW Golf R400.

It's clearly just a standard TT. Not everything on the internet has to be reposted here, especially when it's just rubbish. These websites just want as many hits as possible in order to increase advertising revenue.

Audi TT RS to have 395 hp from five-cylinder 2.5-liter turbo?

0276023f2516c099af9e617dfafcf91b.webp

New details are starting to emerge about the Audi TT RS scheduled to come out in the first half of the year.

A user of the Motor-Talk forums posted an interesting piece of information that he managed to find out from a dealer representative after attending a meeting at quattro GmbH. It seems the range-topping TT is due to be unveiled in the following months and will continue to be powered by the turbocharged five-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine. In this newest application, the motor is said to develop 395 hp (400 PS) sent to a quattro AWD setup likely only through a dual-clutch gearbox.

In terms of performance, expect the 2016 Audi TT RS to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint in around four seconds and top out at an electronically-capped 155 mph (250 kph) top speed. Should there be an optional performance package, the limiter will likely be bumped to somewhere in the region of 174 mph (280 kph).

In addition, a TT RS Performance (replacing the TT RS Plus) is expected to debut next year with 415 hp (420 PS).

Until then, the regular TT RS will reportedly be unveiled in April, so it won’t show up in Geneva. Deliveries will likely kick off in the second half of the year at a starting price substantially higher than the TT S that begins at $51,900 in United States and €49,100 in Germany.

Special thanks go to Hans for sending us the tip and render.

Audi TT Coupe S line competition
With the TT S line competition, Audi brings the sporty character of the TT Coupé and TT Roadster even more to the fore. The special model includes an array of striking details for the exterior and interior - from the fixed rear wing to the Audi virtual cockpit with sport screen. The special edition will be available from the end of 2016.

The Audi TT has always held the power to fascinate with its sporty design and dynamic handling. This character is now underscored by the S line competition special model. The Singleframe, the blade at the front, the exterior mirror housings and the diffuser insert come in a high-gloss black finish, to reinforce its forceful looks. The fixed rear wing of the limited-edition model also radiates sports appeal. This component, too, is painted high-gloss black. The tailpipe trims of the exhaust system have a black chrome finish.

The sport suspension with firm spring/damper settings lowers the ride height of the TT S line competition by ten millimeters (0.4 in) compared with the basic version. And the standard Audi drive select system enhances driving dynamics whenever desired. This enables the driver to modify their car's characteristics in the auto, comfort, dynamic, efficiency and individual modes.

The limited-edition car is factory-fitted with 19-inch wheels in a gloss black five-spoke blade design, fitted with size 245/35 tires. Behind the wheels, the red-painted brake calipers provide highlights. The choice of body colors comprises glacier white, nano gray, tango red and the new TT color Ara blue. The hood of the TT Roadster S line competition is black.

In the cockpit, S sport seats with embossing in the backrests encapsulate the dynamic character of the TT S line competition. Their highly contoured side supports - optionally with pneumatic adjustment - provide excellent lateral support for driver and passenger alike. Electrically adjustable lumbar supports are integrated as standard. The flat-bottomed S line contoured sport leather steering wheel in three-spoke design has multifunction buttons for quick and easy operation of the navigation, media, phone and speech dialog system. As is typical for the TT, the Audi virtual cockpit comes on board as standard. The driver chooses between three modes with the "View" button on the steering wheel. As well as the classic view and the "Infotainment" mode, the limited-edition model has a sport screen where the central tachometer with integral speed display dominates the all-digital instrument cluster.

In defining the range of colors and materials, Audi has created a balanced mix of sports appeal and elegance: Seats and door armrests are upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara, or optionally all in Fine Nappa leather - in both cases in black. Gray contrasting stitching adorns the seats, leather steering wheel, doors and gear/selector lever knob. The inlays are in matt brushed aluminum, while the air vents, the clip around the center console and the seat trims have a slate gray chrome paint finish. As in the TTS, the surface of the soft foam-cushioned dashboard has a slightly raised honeycomb structure that comes across as both technical and sporty. The depressed polygons are produced by removing with a laser two tenths of a millimeter of material from the surface in several stages. Each individual honeycomb is exactly aligned with the design edges of the dashboard support. The result is a clear and linear pattern. The floor mats with black piping are also from the TTS range.

Audi is offering the special model TT S line competition outfitted with the 230 hp 2.0 TFSI engine. It is available as a front-wheel-drive version with six-speed manual transmission or S tronic, and as a quattro with S tronic. Prices for the TT Coupé S line competition start at EUR 41,940. The roadster version of the special model costs EUR 44,340 upwards.

This is the VW Golf of sports cars and it's a good one. One of my neighbors has the new TT with that 2.0 TFSI engine and it sounds brilliants. Subtle growls with a few occasional burps. Exciting but not loud enough to wake up neighbors or coming across as a boy racer.

Facelifted 2019 Audi TTS Leaks With RS-Inspired Looks

Audi TT have leaked online, showing the sports car in TTS guise with a host of subtle visual modifications.

These images, published by the tts_freunde.de Instagram page, confirm what spy shots had suggested; the car looks largely the same as the outgoing model. However, there are some changes, even if they require a little bit of time to notice.

Starting with the front, Audi‘s designers have taken some inspiration from the range-topping TT RS model with the adoption of large air intakes complete with contrasting silver accents. Additionally, the front grille eschews its horizontal slates in favor of a design that adopts hexagonal shapes throughout.

This particular TTS, finished in a bright shade of blue, also sits on a set of new wheels and has silver accents under the side skirts and silver wing mirrors.

The rear has also been made to look a little more aggressive. As such, there are now small air outlets directly behind the rear wheel arches. Additionally, some small changes have been made to the bumper and diffuser. While we think the changes to the front are good, the rear does look a little fussy but we’ll reserve judgment until we see the car in person.

Beneath the revised bodywork, the facelifted 2019 Audi TTS will retain a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Audi will probably add a little power, meaning we can expect more than the 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque produced by the current model. The sprint from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) should be dealt with in roughly 4.5 seconds.

What are the sales of the TT like? From my personal experience the car has already been taken out of production, it's non existent (same counts for the Z4 and SLK though).

Still, the interior of the current TT is beautiful and by far the highlight of any Audi interior. A shame the next 992 911 didn't notice this.....
