Stupid fast, ridiculous interior, same looks as before. Why can't Audi get this right? Gotta see what other magazines get for the 0-60 time, which is almost unbelievable for a naturally aspirated car.

Audi R8 will allegedly receive a 2.5-liter five-cylinder e-turbo engine
According to a new report coming from UK, the base Audi R8 set to arrive in the years to come will get the 5-cylinder 2.5-liter engine benefiting from an electrically-driven turbocharger.

We know for sure the second generation R8 won’t be offered with the naturally aspirated V8 4.2-liter FSI of the first generation as Audi has previously announced the supercar will get a downsized turbocharged motor for the base version. The identity of the engine is not known at this point, and while a previous report stated it will be an upgraded iteration of the 3.0-liter V6 turbo inside the 2016 S4, now we are hearing the entry-level R8 will actually use the reputable 2.5-liter 5-cylinder from the RS3 Sportback, but in this new application it will allegedly get a e-turbo system.

While the newly developed TFSI V6 powering the latest S4/S4 Avant packs 354 PS (260 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, it will develop a lot more in the R8 taking into account the electrically-driven turbocharger will boost output and at the same time will diminish the dreaded turbo lag while maintaining a reasonable fuel consumption.

Audi's head of development for V6, V8 and V10 engines, Jurgen Konigstedt, said a while back the turbocharged R8 won’t arrive in the near future, which means we won’t see it before 2017, at the earliest. Until then, Audi will launch next year the R8 Spyder which just like the coupe will have a V10 5.2-liter naturally aspirated engine developing 540 PS (397 kW) in the standard configuration and 610 PS (449 kW) in “Plus” guise.

This car is one of the prettiest maybe the prettiest, inside and outside, in this price category of sports cars and the man responsible for it is retiring. Hope that the VW scandal has nothing to do with his departure because it feels like an early retirement at the age of 64 and it is also so sudden.

Audi cars under him became the best designs in the automotive world. The only drawback was they all look the same. But they all look so good and so classy.

I wish it was legal to not have a front license plate in Europe. The car looks itself without anything on the front grill.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
