Apparently being a road legal race car doesn't mean shit on track. Because it's about as fast as a base 296 GTB without the Assetto Fiorano pack 😶
(the Black Series wasn't driven by Neumann afaik so we can disregard it)

EXCLUSIVE – Three months
Audi takes longer than expected to produce the R8 supercar

In reality, Audi's R8 sports car model was due to expire at the end of 2023.
But Automobilwoche found out: the Ingolstadt company will extend production at the Böllinger Höfe factory in Heilbronn until the end of March.

Starting in 2026, Audi no longer wants to launch any new models with a combustion engine on the market. The Ingolstadt-based company's existing gasoline engine portfolio makes it even more popular. Automobilwoche learned exclusively: The R8 supercar, manufactured at the Böllinger Höfe factory in Heilbronn, did not expire at the end of 2023 as initially planned, but will now take another three months to produce.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
