3 Series (G50) [Spy shots] 2027 BMW 3 Series (G50)

The BMW G50 is the eighth generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: G50 (sedan), G51 (wagon/touring), and G58 (long-wheelbase). Iinspired by BMW's Vision Neue Klasse concept, it will be offered with both internal combustion and purely electric powertrains, though on different platforms. Predecessor: G20 3 Series. Production: 2026-
Modern BMW’s seem
To have a Saab aesthetic to them. You could make a Saab grille out of the facial of the Neue-Klasse models.

...speaking of which:

It appears that this gorgeous project has only the most remote of chances of ever coming to fruition:

Excuse my going off onto the SAAB trajectory. @SCOTT27 comment left me wandering a bit off path.

So sue me. I'm simply sorry that the Germans have been going through a dearth of truly appealing designs.

But at least the G50 and NA0 i3 are promising to be very interesting.

I miss Saab too. They were totally unique cars until GM got their hands on them.

Contrary to popular opinion that GM "ruined" Saab, they did give Saab significant autonomy in developing and engineering their cars on GM platforms. Lots more specialized parts, compared to the badge-engineered Chevy/Pontiac/Buick/Saturn/Opel stuff and of course money to develop cars

This new old nostalgic design was made decades ago by different engineers and designers for saloons/sedan. You can see it a bit off on an Suv like ix3. So my guess is that the upcoming 3/5 series will look better than the ix3

No sir. Totally wrong. When you rebadge a Chevy Trailblazer and a Subaru Impreza as Saabs absolutely none of what you mentioned matters and the result is coffined brand. GM killed Saab it isn’t arguable. Are you kidding? Badge engineering is exactly what those miserable products were.

Two US-centric models didn't kill Saab lol considering they weren't succeeding any existing models either. There's lots to say about how Saab died but the effect these 2 cars had on the brand are extremely miniscule lol.

GM did kill Saab of course but they also gave them lots of funding to develop the 9-3s and 9-5s and the eventual 9-4x which didn't even get to see a full year of sales.

He feels Saab under General Motors gets a bad rap sometimes. “GM did a lot for Saab,” Castriota said. They built them factories, gave them a dealer network, provided financing and gave them money for R&D, he said. He said it could be argued that some of the brand’s uniqueness was watered down a bit under their new owner, but that Saab always remained innovative.

And sure yeah the 9-7x and 9-2x are ridiculous products, but far from being the leading cause for Saab's failure.

I don’t understand what you’re even arguing about. The brand is dead and GM did it. You just said it. The point of me bringing up those two looks was to show you that they did exactly what you said they didn’t which was badge engineer products. GM killed Saab. What you’re saying is akin to stabbing or shooting someone and then wanting credit for getting them to the hospital. GM didn’t do anything that mattered for Saab.

They should have shown the NA0 i3 on Mar 7th, 2026, since BMW will celebrate 110 years of existence as a brand. Missed opportunity.
Have you happened to see the new 3er?

Really curious about the result. Not sure I will like the front end rear end, based on the spy pics.

I didn't know that day was his birthday. Now that you mention it, the start of deliveries for the Neue Klasse (the new era with the iX3) begins on March 7th, there's some symbolism there.

I have not seen it and I have no clue about the new front end whatsoever. I am not very optimistic, given the fact the kidneys will depart their traditional shape. I am still not convinced about this design exercise. Leaving out the classic, vertical kidneys from the sedans & low-riding models doesn't seem to be a good decision, also in comparison to the historic NK sedan, which received vertical kidneys just 2 months prior to its debut.

What we'll be seeing with the NA0 is a revisit of the 60s NK design prior to adding the kidneys as final touch.
