A8/S8 [Official] The new Audi A8

Yeah the A6 E Tron spy shots don't have me excited. The proportions do give off FWD not on an MQB level but definitely worse than MLB level. Very front heavy look with high beltline.

And.. is PPE really going to be bespoke? It's being developed alongside the PPC that's gonna replace MLB no? So I would assume it's not as bespoke of a platform as we think it to be for electric, but a lot better packaged for it.

PPE (Premium Platform Electric) is a dedicated BEV platform for executive/luxury segment automobiles,co-developed by Audi and Porsche. It will eventually evolve into a platform of almost unlimited scalability to be designated SSP (Scalable System Platform) that represents a "merger" of sorts of the VAG MEB and PPE dedicated electric toolkits. A special version of the SSP will be reserved for Porsche cars. Development of new vehicles based on the MQB/MLB/MSB (originally ICE only) platforms will cease within the course of the next 3-4 years.

Is MLB not being replaced by PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) ? I've read a few reports and heard from employees about this as well, developed alongside PPE.

That's news to me.

Could it be that PPC is simply the designation for the last evolution of the MLB platform (instead of MLBevo.2, for example) ? Being applied to the final generations of the ICE/PHEV Q5, A4 and A6 perhaps (which are scheduled for presentation later this year/early next year, I believe) ?

Could be a possibility. But I also think it may just be a brand new platform too if Audi purposefully planned a short lifespan with no real facelift for the C8 A6. Guess we'll have to see

Well... going back to the A8 for a second ? I've made a very quick modification of the current A8... which I think would make it look a lot better.
Small change... just removed the "tooth" from the headlamp.

And here I moved the front axle a bit to the front.

I don't know why they added that "tooth" here. It just doesn't fit here.

Anyway, since you are talking about the platforms I also think something like the PPC platform would be the best option. Just like the new BMW 7 series Audi could also give us an option to choose between classic ICE, PHEV or fully Electrioc versions of the next A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8 generations (and SUVs).

Oh, You're good with photoshop! Could you do a Flying Spur body with the A8 front, or rear?

While many will support your train of thought, it would constitute a compromise that may not be IMHO commercially viable in a bigger picture scenario. The eventual demise of the ICE now appears irreversible. Legacy manufacturers will need to commit themselves to the production of dedicated BEVs'. The conversion of facilities (and or construction of new ones) will be time as well as cost consuming for those legacy manufacturers. Time is a rapidly diminishing commoditiy in light of impending legislative requirements. Money will have to be expended in a prudent manner in endeavours that are sustainable and not "stop gap solutions".

I completely forgot about the Horch. Mind you so did BMW when discussing its Maybach challenging aspirations.

"HORCH ! Hörst Du ? Ist es das leise Zirpen von... Grillen ??"

**crickets**

Horch is as superfluous as a goiter. Audi Exclusive can fill extravagant wishes of affluent customers. And there's also Bentley, which as of late is more firmly tucked under Audi's wings.

The recently launched Horch of the current A8 is like taking advantage of it as a showcase preparing for the next generation, (which as seen with the three radically different concepts will mean the first change in design philosophy of its modern era, since at least the 80s) .

Therefore, instead of making a concept, they did it on this one.
The A8 was a player, nowadays it's a spectator, it only captures those who don't want an S or a 7, and it's a shame because it's still a great car, it just lacks that something....

With Maybach burning, BMW that will do something similar with the new 7 (I'm sure) and the Horch of the new generation of the A8, the atmosphere will heat up

Just a sample of items to use:

The problem is the classic, both Horch and Maybach are unknown to the world in general, Maybach at least sounds good, Horch sounds like a wounded Boar bellow

Is there going to be a next-gen ICE A8? On the final ICE platform? Would be nice if there was to at least switch it to MSB as a final hurrah and back to glory for the A8 after the lackluster D5.

Mat's new car.

VERY quick considering the weather conditions. No wonder Larry chose it as a getaway car.

Can AUDI defeat the Tesla Plaid?🤔

I'm not even going to watch the video, because you know that the answer to your question is NO! Btw, this is the thread for Audi A8, not the R8.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
