A8/S8 [Official] The new Audi A8


I spent a week with the car and, don’t laugh, the most impressive feature was the perfume dispenser. Really, the car smelled so nice. Don’t know which scent it was but man did it smell good. I turned it up all the way to level 3 dispensing.

Ok, I kid a bit, but the car is a tech powerhouse. Lots of cool gadget and features (matrix led reading lamps, massage, laser light, pano, HUD, night vision, etc.), but completely uninvolving when driving. It was a fully loaded 50 regular wheelbase.

@sako97 Yes, like that video very much. By the way, the W222 pre facelift 6 cylinders came with cloth seats as standard in Germany. I wouldn’t mind if velours seats were offered again for the S.
 
It is baffling for me to read the news about Horsch revival as a sub brand mimicking Maybach approach by Mercedes. VW group has a much stronger and prestigious brand called Bentley with a number of models above A8, whereas Horsch is almost an unknown brand and ...

Anyways, the brand you mentioned is so unknown that you don't even know yourself what it was called back in the day. Not Horsch, that's for sure.
Simply put, this will fail even worse than what MB did with Maybach.

Cloth is going to make a serious comeback. My bet is that animal skin will be completely gone from cars in a decade or two. All replaced by new space age materials that are enviromentially ok. Leather isn't.

Leather in cars is weird to begin with. We all think it's normal but it isn't. Leather in a car is like building an 1850 stagecoach out of carbon fibre.
 
I’m not a fan of leather in the cars either. OEMs are developing other materials that will replace leather increasingly. Also, the leather in most convertibles is far from normal leather. It’s treated and sprayed to not absorb heat as normal leather would.
I really like Maserati’s approach: they have silk in the car. I’ve actually felt it and it’s pretty damn amazing. Too bad it’s only in the middle. But I could imagine that this would be something very nice both in winter and summer.

It sure does make a huge difference what good wheels and colour scheme can do a cars appearance, that A8 ABT does look fantastic.

Where's the S8?

Recently disclosed photos of an undisguised metallic blue S8 at the Nürburgring indicate a possible Geneva 2019 public premiere. Perhaps along with the S6 and S7 Sportback (recently spotted undisguised on a highway in the U.S. Midwest) as well ?
 
Yes,Accoring to some news report,Audi has decided to cancel the normal new A8L W12 and V8 models in Chinese market.The revived Horch super luxury cars with W12 and V8 engine to compete Maybach S-Class will appear sometimes in 2020.The difference between Horch and Bentley flying spur,the former is more rear passengers oriented and spacious,the latter is more driver oriented and sports,but they are all very luxurious.
 
With the end of Bentley Mulsaane and Mulsanne EWB,Horch super saloon will become the most luxurious chauffeur's car in VAG.
 
VAG didn't announce this,but once Horch comes to life in the furture,this is the natural result.
 
There has actually been some recent speculation that Bentley Motors will be "discontinuing the production of a model line". The Mulsanne, due to lack of relevant economies of scale, would appear to be the most likely victim. Bentleys' short-to-medium term future lies in the success of the Continental GT/Flying Spur lineups, as the Bentayga is apparently commercially far less than "successful". A bit further down the road, it's all about the consequences of BREXIT and the transition to a primarily "sourced by Porsche" BEV manufacturer.
