Sián FKP 37 [Official] The Lamborghini Siån

The Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is a limited production mid-engine hybrid sports car produced by Lamborghini. Production: 2020-2022.
Piston heads:

Retaining a whacking great twelve cylinder ought to give the Sian appropriately antisocial vocals, but it can also be operated in silent e-mode when parking and reversing. Lambo also states that the torque fill afforded by the electric motor smooths gear shifts, so – necks rejoice – the seven-speed ‘box’s savage jolts (most prevalent in the SVJ) should be swapped for something more seamless and, perhaps, comfortable. That being said, the car’s design in no way suggests we’re looking at a softened-up Lambo; it mixes the form of an Aventador with Terzo Millennio-like aggression and features active cooling vanes that move through material reaction when things get hot. Inside, the layout is largely familiar; here’s hoping those seats will be a little more forgiving than the ones in the Avantador.

Initially thought this was an Aventador replacement/SF90 Stradale rival, but it seems to be just a limited edition model...Still waiting for a radical, all-new care from Lamborghini, for them to challenge the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche...We'll see if I am in for a disappointment.

As for the car, even though the design doesn't exactly float my boat, no denying that it looks very futuristic in its own way (except for the dated-looking interior)

Cnet had some info on the super capacitor:

Let's start with the electrified heart of it all. Under the striking and jagged sheetmetal is a traditional V12 engine, but rather than a lithium-ion battery that is often the norm, Lamborghini said it's instead installed the first supercapacitor to operate in a hybrid powertrain. The supercapacitor has mu...
FYI Tesla bought a supercapacitor maker Maxwell Technologies a few weeks ago. I have previously mentioned that supercapacitators might be used in the Tesla Roadster because of their ability to charge and discharge energy quicker than batteries. However I don't think they will replace batteries but instead complement them.

Did Mr Dan Dorsch of MIT have anything to do with this transmission? His concept is very similar to what is used by Lamborghini. Mr Dorsch did say he did work with an unnamed high-performance car manufacturer on such development a few years ago.

35HP sounds silly, but maybe it makes shit load if torque?

Interestingly, BMW had a X5 prototype that used supercapacitor way back in early 2000s. It had way more than a 35hp motor and was super quick. Can't find anything on Google though, if anyone has a link, please share.

M'eh....too many over the top details. I am sure there's a lot things done for the sake of optimizing aero, cooling, performance, etc. Let me put it this way, a 11 year-old hoffmeister_fan would be an ideal Lambo designer. Admittedly, that last sentence pretty dickish because I am sure a whole team of folks put a great deal effort into this project. They need to cool it on the hexagon theme.

What you've been looking up to is the X3 EfficientDynamics Concept from 2005:

Once you get passed the name, the BMW X3 Efficient Dynamics Concept is essentially a hybrid. X3 While the lower part of the X3 looks like Doc Brown installed a flux capacitor in BMW's littlest SUV, the X3 hybrid concept is a step toward production hybrid technology for BMW. The concept is also supposed to take advantage of super capacitors for rapid power delivery from the electric side of the hybrid drive train. BMW made it very clear, hybrids will become part of their strategy in the future. Their goal with this 'study' was to develop a hybrid system that would still offer the performance that BMW is known for. While BMW stated the X3 Hybrid shown will not make it into production as we see it, you can be sure the systems developed here will show up in the future. BMW has also just recently signed a memorandum of understanding with DCX and GM to jointly develop hybrids. These three may be the right mix to develop performance driven hybrid technology to take some hybrid market share from the Toyota's grip.

BMW also showcased hybrid technology at the IAA, Frankfurt, with the BMW X3 EfficientDynamics hybrid car. Using new innovations such as Super Cap technology, Active Transmission, automatic engine start / stop, High Precision Injection and Brake Energy Regeneration, the Concept X3 EfficientDynamics achieves an increase in performance whilst improving on the combined fuel consumption by up to 20 per cent over the standard X3.

Whenever the driver applies the brakes and slows to a standstill, the petrol engine is switched off, negating fuel consumption and emissions. At the same time, the electric motor is converted into an alternator, recharging the power supply. When the accelerator is depressed, the engine restarts automatically.

If the driver continues to apply the accelerator, the 400Nm electric motor starts automatically to deliver a maximum output of 82bhp. Under moderate acceleration, the system uses only the electric motor to minimise consumption and emissions. At maximum acceleration the output of the electric motor and combustion engine combine to deliver up to 600Nm of torque but with engine speeds below 1,500rpm. When not in use powering the car, the electric motor again automatically switches to alternator mode to recharge the power supply.

Power storage and supply comes from innovative double-layer capacitors or Super Caps, located in the vehicle sills. Offering over 10 times more capacity per kilogram than conventional nickel / metal hydride batteries, Super Caps have an overall capacity of 190kW – more than adequate for the car being driven in fast, dynamic situations.

Finally, the Concept X3 EfficientDynamics combines BMW’s now familiar VALVETRONIC throttle with High Precision Injection technology – the first jet-guided direct injection system for large-scale production. This further contributes towards the dramatic reduction in fuel consumption. High Precision Injection technology is likely to follow VALVETRONIC into full-scale production within the next few years.

Is this the new Aventador or a super final special edition of the current one a la reventon ?

Special edition, only 63 will be made. Probably there will be at least one more special edition before Aventador goes out, since it will be couple more years on sale.

Looking ace in the flesh.

Appreciate they always really go deep in the re-skinning but it doesn't look good.

Looks terrible.

I guess with zero racing identity, they have to number everything 63..

It's got a stupid name. How do you pronounce it?
"Sy-ann"? "See-an"? Or is it something more esoteric like the Welsh / Gaelic pronunciation of "Shahn"? No matter what - it's going to get butchered worse than "Gahlardough".

"Let’s start with the name. Siån. It translates as ‘flash of lightning’ in Bolognese dialect. But with that funny squiggle, you may be thrown as how to say it. Sy-anne? See-an? Well, it’s pronounced ‘Shh-ahnn’"

Or Sian, as in "I shan't be buying it".

That rear stance and engine cover design remind me of my all time dream car, the Countach.
