Model 3 [Official] Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 is a battery electric powered mid-size sedan with a fastback body style built by Tesla, Inc., introduced in 2017. The vehicle is marketed as being more affordable to more people than previous models made by Tesla. The Model 3 was the world's top-selling plug-in electric car for three years, from 2018 to 2020, before the Tesla Model Y, a crossover SUV based on the Model 3 chassis, took the top spot. In June 2021, the Model 3 became the first electric car to pass global sales of 1 million.
Well for once their current market cap will be down substantially as investors start to realize that the company will never reach the market share it would need to generate the earnings per share it’s currently trading. An equity analyst from Morgan Stanley recently published a nice report on this.

How’s that Morgan Stanley report working out ? :ROFLMAO:

Stoned Driver Crashed Tesla Model 3 At 100+ MPH Sending Battery Cells Flying
The accident occurred in Corvallis, Oregon and the driver, who fled the scene, was caught and cited for driving stoned, among other offenses.
How on earth did the driver get out of this wreck alive and he managed to flee the scene before police got there? Dylan Milota was driving his Tesla Model 3 very quickly in his hometown of Corvallis, Oregon (apparently doing over 100 mph/161 km/h), when he crashed into a couple of trees which he knocked down, sheered utility pole and also smashed into a telephone junction box.
You can really tell it was a high speed accident based on the damage sustained by his Model 3, as shown in these photos provided by the City of Corvallis Police Department. From the first obstacle it hit, until it ground to a halt, it apparently traveled more than 300 feet.

Milota proceeded to leave the wreckage on foot, but police apprehended him three blocks away from the scene of the crash. He had surprisingly only sustained minor injuries and it was also discovered that he had used marijuana prior to driving for which he was cited, along with hit and run, criminal mischief 2, reckless driving and reckless endangering offenses.

To give you an idea of just how violent the crash must have been, bits were hurled off the Tesla and damaged nearby properties. Flying battery cells broke through one house window and landed on the owner’s lap and they also went into another home (also by breaking a window), this time landing on a bed which subsequently caught fire.

But wait, there’s more. One of the wheels came clean off the car and slammed into pipes supplying a local apartment building with water; the pipes were ruptured and this apparently resulted in severe flooding that damaged some ground floor rooms. The vehicle was obviously totaled in the crash.

How’s that Morgan Stanley report working out ? :ROFLMAO:

Funny thing, there's no "official" Morgan Stanley report. They have hundreds of advisors/managers, each one has a their own, different take on the market and economies; thus, there is no corporate or official Morgan Stanley stance.

Just yesterday a class action was announced in The Netherland by Tesla owners on the dismal quality of the car and non-responsiveness of the brand to fix problems. It was their #1 market in Europe in 2019 with 30,000 units. They currently stand at just over 4,000. Same is happening in Norway, also a pioneer market.

FYI Model 3 climbs back into the second best selling ev in Norway with 54% of sales Annual sales happening in the last 30 days.

In other news, The Chinese factory is now manufacturing the model 3 performance locally with updated wheels. Other rumours indicating a heated steering wheel, redesigned door cards Also, the price of the Model 3 performance has now dropped to ¥339,000. Comparatively, the BM M3 and C63 AMG prices start at ¥900,000 in China.

Because everyone is flocking towards the facelift now. It's no secret that the facelift version is a better car overall and fits Norwegian conditions better. New heat pump tech which gives more stable range during the cold. Also more range in general, increased by 40 km. Electronic tailgate, wireless charging and etc. Worth the upgrade for many current owners.

Another thing, the values have dropped dramatically on the pre-facelift cars. I see that as a win, but I know many owners don't like that a lot, namely because the trade in price is way lower.

Just saw on Chinese social media that in the cold the door handles froze, the mirror also froze, couldn’t open, and it’s popped off from the car at the top:

I love Tesla but their built quality is so bad, just so bad.... I often see model Ss with dotted LEDs on the rear, it looks like someone attached those “custom” basic lights in some basic car tuning store

Given the Model III took the top spot in the UK for December I'm wondering if the same is true here. Genuinely reasonable figure too for typical December conditions (rather relying on pandemic-decimated months, or releasing allocations in the slowest month of the year for other car sales, to get into, or the top of the top 10).

Model 3 down more than 70% last year inThe Netherlands which was Tesla's largest EV market in Europe in 2019. VW's ID.3 took top spot, being only a few months on the market. Old Auto, right?

Seriously, these pop-out door handles that has gain wide-spread acceptance in cars like Tesla, Porsche, Range Rover, Mercedes, etc. are one of the most useless features out there. It's a solution to a problem that nobody had any real issues to begin with. It boggles my mind that beancounters are willing to allow money being spent on this than something more worthwhile.

So I checked out my nearest Tesla dealer today and there was already a surprising amount of '21 Model 3 parked outside. When I asked why so, the salesperson said it was related to heat pump issues due to cold weather...

So much for that "new" heat pump technology I guess. It hasn't even been extremely cold either, up to - 12 celcius.

Whats the operating temperature range for the heat pump? -12C is very cold.

It's 1 degrees in the UK today and the key for my 2019 X3 didn't work when I was leaving a park. I had to unlock the car using the BMW connect app. Thankfully the car recognised the key once I was inside the car.

From what I understand it works exactly the same way as heat pumps/air conditioners that I or any other people have at home. And the ones at home have their components exposed on the outside too compared to Tesla's solution (see picture below). The ones at home work without any problems up to -35C. So it is very strange that something goes wrong at -12C or less, especially when the components are isolated in a vehicle. I know this is a bit of a weird comparison, but their principle is still the same. From a quick search around different websites dedicated to Teslas, it seems Tesla is using heat pumps from China, so that could be the issue.

Heat Pump...

o_O:ROFLMAO:
That's very interesting, it's better when the battery is at 90%, but essentially dead weight when it's not.

I thought this was San Francisco but it’s actually Glasgow.

2021 Model 3 LR - LG battery (-7ºC ambient temp)
2021 Model 3 Performance - Panasonic battery (-19ºC ambient temp)

In Bjorn's opinion, ambient temp didn't make much of a difference.

LR is 8k cheaper and better performance at 40% SoC, it seems.
