Sorry, but everyone seeing nothing but a facelift there needs to have his/her eyes checked.
Agree. It is actually a much bigger progression than it first appears. I think one of the reasons it seems so familiar is it has a slight resemblance to the Ghost. This is not a facelift, it is an entirely new vehicle.

The lack of profile detail, "bumperless" nose and rear end definitely add mass.
Some images make it look a bit bulky and gaudy like a big Rolex watch. This version of the Phantom is more of a look at me show piece. It is flashier than the outgoing version.

I still like it a lot though. There is a sense of completeness about the packaging despite the ever so slightly outdated theme of the interior. It shouts "I am the King of Automotive Artisan, am untouchable"

I think the car looks great! theres no need for dramatic changes. Phantom is already such an iconic designs which sets the whole RR design DNA.
This 8th generation is amazing! so classic and elegance yet very very modern. great job!
cannot wait to see the drophead.

When the Phantom looks this great you just know the next Ghost is going to be outstanding. Not that the current Ghost is anything but.

Interesting that there's no mention of a fragrance dispenser like BMW's Ambient Air package? Also no gesture control, and no autonomous driving systems other than active cruise control. I can understand why the latter two mightn't have been included, but I would've thought a fragrance dispenser would suit the Rolls-Royce brand and experience perfectly?

Either way, I'm enormously proud of BMW/Rolls-Royce. The engineering is first-rate, the interior is a nice step forward both in terms of style and perceived quality, and the styling is, for the most part, a successful evolution of the Phantom theme.

Not sure about fragrance or gesture control, but seems to have all of the below:
A fully loaded Phantom has an advanced driver assistance system that includes four cameras that provide better visibility such as helicopter view, active cruise control, collision warning, pedestrian warning, cross-traffic warning, lane departure and lane change warning. The vehicle also has a high-resolution head-up display, WiFi hotspot, and navigation and entertainment systems.

Rolls-Royce Reveals Its Most Luxurious Car to Date

If there's one company who can make a true rival to this, it's Mercedes. I'd love to see them do it; all these sportscars are becoming damned boring, nor do they suit the brand as much as a true top end luxury car.
An S600 Maybach is damn nice, don't get me wrong, but something like a Phantom it is not.
