This car is all about making a statement. The more expensive the car the bigger the statement. And heres where the problem of this car lays: the Chiron makes a statement five time bigger than RRs

The Chiron almost is a production car compared to this, LOL!
And 'The Gallery' alone will end up costing more than a whole Chiron in a lot of cases.

And either way, a super sports car? Like we already have 13 in a dozen? Give me a break! There's nothing like a Phantom!

Sorry, but everyone seeing nothing but a facelift there needs to have his/her eyes checked.

Don't bother. It's the typical MB lovers only, which was to be expected.

And people who seriously mean it IMO need to be permabanned from this site. They don't deserve being here.

And the rear lights, I just can't help it, give me Fiat 500

Haha, first thing I thought of too :D
But still it looks very Rolls somehow.

I'll just assume that was for comedic purposes.

Anyways, there's no way to logically compare a Phantom to a Chiron, or have even have a educated conversation comparing the two. Completely different.

It seems almost all new car threads are quickly get sidetracked with X vs Y debates. Let's not derail this thread as well.

You didn't enjoy it? :(

Anyways, it will be interesting to see when the first true works of art (like a Picasso or Van Gogh) are cut in pieces to fit in the Gallery :D We all know it's bound to happen somewhere in the middle east or Russia ;)

Well I agree there is nothing like a Phantom ....but please, the Chiron is a tour de force.

The Phantom is a luxury product of the highest calibre - but when it comes to which is the greatest expression of automotive engineering genius, the Chiron is about as close to high-art as any automobile can be.

It is more likely to be a commission by a living artist I should think.

Which makes me wonder, which contemporary artist would I like on my Phantom's dash - it is actually a ridiculous idea when you think about it.

How about a Tracey Emin?, Maurizio Cattelan?, Marina Abramović? LOL, not sure I would want to sit in front of blood and faeces every time I get into my Rolls.

Jesus... I'm stunned. And in love. Other 'cars' now look like toys compared to this

I wonder why did they keep the keyhole on the front doors? Do they have a function, or is it a gimmick?

Anyways, there's no way to logically compare a Phantom to a Chiron, or have even have a educated conversation comparing the two. Completely different.
Well... yes and no. They are not comparable in the typical sense when we talk about cars, but in a more intrinsical sense - both of these cars are on the cutting edge, pushing the boundaries. Each in it's own way.

I would argue that it's not about Chiron vs Phantom, but about Chiron AND Phantom.
Really, the 'Ultra High Net Worth Individual' has to have both.

EDIT: Just one, tiny little question: Who is to be applauded for this car? Rolls Royce, or BMW?

Honestly though, do you seriously not like it?
I freakin love it.. its amazing. And it should be a evolution.
Even the tech in the interior seems to be good enough to hold out for the next decade. Initially on the leaked images is didn't seem that way.

With all that said it's fun to enjoy these cara visually. I'm not really interested in chauffeur driven cars personally.

IMHO Both! You can't ignore that this was developed and refined in Munich, I saw Rolls-Royces (and Maybach S600's!) coming and going from buildings around the FIZ in Munich pretty much throughout the day when I was there for a week. But at the same time, I'm sure the inspiration and craftsmanship is all from Goodwood, that's the home of the assembly and the passion.

So, the gallery in a crash test. You don't want to be sitting in the front.

This guy!

Do you really think they installed a regular glass there, and perform no crash tests whatsoever? ;)

Mind the carmakers are obligated by laws to comply to some quite strict safety standards. Those include the occupants and their protection from intrusions of broken interior parts. So, be sure that gallery glass is not easily breakable, and it not shatters. It's much safer than eg. windshield. Btw, RR have experience with safe glass parts in the cabin since privacy glass wall (secluding the rear compartment from the front part if the cabin) has been on optional feature in Phantom VII EWB already. The previous Phantom was the first bespoke RR model in many years (previous models shared engineering, bodies and interior with Bentleys) and it moved the design of RR into the modern era. Due to its success and timeless shape, I think that BMW/RR didn't want to changed too much with the exterior and made it appear more raked and also modernized. The design is more flowing with less character lines and distinct bumpers with less overhangs front and rear. It certainly is more majestic and gives the feeling of projecting power and dominance. Although at first glance it just appears to be a facelift, the smaller details reveal the beauty in its progressive design.

The interior is where the biggest move forward has occurred and now is even more bespoke, with the owners even having choice for their own artwork to be projected on the dash board.

It certainly is eye catching and perhaps some people could choose bizaar artwork such as this?:D

So about the gallery, do you something already existing in there, or you have to commission new art that has to be compliant with the gallery format, and if so who does it ? Oh and btw, was it you @Monster who complained about the plastics of the old steering wheel column, it seems to be still there. Lats question does it have gesture control and Hud ?

I like the exterior. The interior has some nice details, but they should have done more with the overall design. It's an outdated look.
