Ghost [Official] Rolls-Royce Ghost (2021-)

Rolls-Royce Ghost forum covering all generations of the modern luxury sedan. Discuss new models, design, future developments, spy shots, industry news, technology, specifications, ownership experiences, and Rolls-Royce heritage.
The Cullinam is 20 cm longer than an X7, it is also 16 cm wider and more taller, it is a big monster, so what I mean is that in its stately appearance both outside and inside it is much more on the side of the Phantom, which leaves room for something more sporty like an SUV coupe which would be closer to the Ghost conceptually.
It can’t be 16 cm wider, the X7 is already 200 cm wide. 216 must be with mirrors.

In the case of the X7 it specifies that it is without mirrors, in the case of the Cullinan it does not specify but being the same publication I understand that they must be the same parameters.

X7, 2000mm excl mirrors, 2218mm incl mirrors, according to BMW.

Cullinan, 2000mm according to UK Press release, 2164mm according to the German press release - I'd take the lack of clarification to mean that is without, and with mirrors, respectively.

Perhaps a 'serious' lot money, but clearly not enough to have Rolls-Royce perform the customisation themselves.
I think Rolls-Royce restrain themselves to offer the tasteless aspects with a bit more respectability and formality.

Agree, they should use the same parameters, but as with for example vehicle weight and boot space even the proffesionals are confused and mixing apples with bananas all the time.
I found a copy of the Cullinan brochure, width is 200 cm (without mirrors I assume) so the same as X7. Which is very wide, I have the X5 which also is 200 cm wide and often wish it wasn’t so wide...

The Rolls-Royce customers of today are not excactly known for their good taste and style...

There's just might, maybe and made-up editorial on the other end of that link. There's nothing credible to it. Don't bother.

A smaller SUV? Or Rolls-Speak "High-Sided vehicle" would be a logical choice. However it can't be a smaller Cullinan.
If they are working on such a concept and rumours point to discussions considering it. Then it needs be something more in tune with the lower end of the spectrum where the Cullinan resides at the top.
It needs to be far more athletic than the carriage looking Cullinan. In a way how Phantom and Ghost distinguish themselves from the more stately Phantom to the athletic Ghost.
This would work in a good way as it provides more choice not just in its body, but power and appeal.

Found this gunmetal and jubilee silver combo.

"...lime Green, which Rolls says is inspired by the neon lights in Shanghai at night."

"The interior uses a mosaic of unlacquered, open-pore Obsidian Ayous wood veneers. It is supposed to evoke the wooden window shutters on a pavilion building at Shanghai’s Yu Yuan Gardens."

Sure businesses are free to choose their market strategy, and sure to some extent one may claim any attempt at catering to customers is a form of whoring out to begin with; but coming from an extremely well-established brand like Porsche Rolls-Royce which needs no introduction and arguably already builds the best all-round sportscar luxury car in the world, this whoring out must be in a league of its own

More seriously, I'm not aware of Rolls-Royce ever having released a 'France version' for the Paris Motor Show, a 'Germany version' for the Frankfurt Motor Show, a 'USA version' for the Detroit or Los Angeles Motor Show, hell, even a 'UK version' for its home market. Yet there is an astronomical amount of custom color themes and design ideas that may potentially have been implemented based on these other countries' landmarks and strong visual identities. All in a short and limited production run of course, they are only moving around 5,000 units per year anyway.

So either Rolls believes the rest of the world isn't worthy of such kowtowing, or it believes that what looks kitsch/bad taste in the rest of the world looks just fine in China, which isn't very nice towards Chinese people -- which is it?

quite like that mosaic wood veneer.

in one of the marques biggest markets. This may not fit your narrative.

Aren't the US and the Emirates big markets as well? Where is the inclusiveness? Dubai regularly sees Rolls customized at least as wildly as the ones being showcased here in China, and the average buyer around the world will order custom options and pay much more than the sticker price anyway. Yet only one country seems to be getting such preferential treatment with special flavor editions (which elsewhere would be looked down on by some of those praising these as being archaic and 'nationalistic'). That this coming from brands such as Porsche or Rolls-Royce is 1. image/tradition/heritage-bending and 2. selective a**-licking is an objective observation, not my narrative.

I remember a UAE version being shown and Jaipur version as well.

I am sure there were few versions highlighting England. Also R-R had special versions of the Phantom that had veneers major world cities, so....

EDIT: Also, R-R tends to do bespoke versions for whatever show they are exhibiting their cars. Bentley has done that as have other high-end marques, so....
