Taycan [Official] Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is a battery electric luxury sports sedan and shooting brake car produced by Porsche.
Oh, I see. During long cold winters people stop commuting and only do long journeys.

No, but during long cold winters with the seat warmers on, heater on, battery precondition heater on, battery range is significantly reduced in all electric cars. These are problems which you wouldn't encounter in South Africa. Any additional range is a plus.

More importantly will you get past Japan this weekend or will you choke?

While the Taycan is being (generally) lauded by the automotive press, I've been reading increasing criticism with regard to the material quality of its' interior due to the excessive use of hard plastics. Inexcusable in view of the cars' list prices, I would think.

Interesting article on jalopnik about the video comparison between the Taycan and P100D, they weren’t impressed by the range or charging capabilities of the Taycan....... ‘Instead, he saw only around 103 kW, and he had to wait 20 minutes. “103 I find disappointing, to be honest,” he says. “It’s not faster,” he continues, wondering if this was just the beginning of Porsche failing to deliver on its promises’

it can clearly charge at higher kw as seen in every video made by everyone when they drove it across Europe charging on the Ionity chargers. I don’t know what they are on about. plus 20mins ain’t that long of a wait for 300 plus Km of range

20 minutes to stretch ones' legs, enjoy a double espresso and, if required, execute a monumental dump. Very healthy when travelling longer distances.

Read the full article, you can copy the source into your browser the writer also used the Ionity charger in Europe and also experienced similar issues, he references it in the article.

20 mins is a long time if you’re used to a gas powered vehicle and don’t have time to kill and I don’t think that was really their concern, but rather that Porsche might have overpromised in what the Taycan can actually do....for the first time, but it’s still too early more tests to come.

I just came back from southern France, 2400 km round trip (in 36 hours, don't ask me why). I can safely say I like it if I had to stop for 20 mins every 300 km. That's a little too much if you ask me.

@KiwiRob, @Sunny is probably saying you just charge your electric car at home and never see a service station again. It's a bit of a reach indeed....

There is absolutely NOTHING healthy in and around a EU public highway restroom, as we all know ;) The chocolate croissants in French service areas however are excellent!

Don't bother, as he has amply demonstrated elsewhere, he is just too thickheaded.

It's a bit of a reach indeed....
I have friends who have not gone to one for months. Only time they ever go to one is when going on long distance trips. Otherwise, between house and chargers at office parking, they never have to vs me having to visit a gas station every other week.

Hmm ... not to everyones delight ... what if you are a " Heimscheißer"? Don't know the english word (I think in the movie American Pie Finch was called shitbreak for this habit?) ... public restrooms often don't give you the atmosphere for a monumental dump. :poop:

I see your point. But filling the car up at a gas station once every (two) week(s) is for some probably less effort than plugging in your car, finding a charge spot, etc. every single time you have driven a bit.
Now, that would obviously change if you have a wireless charging pad in your garage, but nobody has that here in Holland, most cars (95% I would say) are parked in public places where you would have to hassle with those damn cables, get dirty, get wet, etc.

Sh!tting in your pants actually is the preferred option here.

Eine angepasste Ernährung würde das Problem lösen. "Erbsen, Bohnen und Linsen bringen den Arsch zum Grinsen.".

I'm just trying to help.

klier as a person living in Europe you know about 40% of vehicle owners don’t have a secure off street parking space, so they will always have to charge there BEV at a public charging station. This is the glass ceiling for BEV ownership, and a large potential market for FCEV’s.
