Boxster/Cayman (981) [Official] Porsche Cayman (981)

The Porsche 981 is the internal designation given to the third-generation Boxster/Cayman (second generation Cayman) models built by Porsche. Production: 2012–2016. It was succeeded by the Porsche 982.
Quite frankly, I find this even more desiderable than a 911:

Porsche is on a roll......

I like it, but at the same time something seems a little off. Compared to the Boxster, it looks a little too "thick" from some angles. May be I just needs some time to get used to it.

WOW this car is simply stunning!! Very desirable economic alternative to the iconic 911.

Looks very good, but i really had a hard time to spot what has changed since the last one. I had to see back to back pictures to distinguish both fronts.

If I have any complaint, it is the rear hatch - which looks a mite bloated and Panamerish.

Wish it looked more like this - with the rear window shorter and the hatch more tucked in.

The difference are minor and I nitpick.

Old Cayman for comparison.

Most beautiful thing ever. The previous one was so ugly and awkward, and this really made it what it needed to be to be a real player.

Porsche has sh*t on the competition, really the best manufacturer in the world, IMO.

M-B, take notes, this is where you should have been in design perfection and brand cachet/quality.

Fantastic, but on balmy evenings with the top down and Sports Exhaust activated, the Boxster S would be my choice. Ours goes into build in Jan for early March delivery. We placed our order and deposit in Johannesburg, South Africa in June this year. So we would have had to wait a ridiculous 9 months for delivery....

Aaaaaaaargh its a beauty. Give it to me in seal grey with terracotta interior, -20mm suspension, sports chrono plus, RS wheels, manual gearbox and I will be set for life.

I see what you mean, I actually prefer the way it panned out (pun intended :))

What amazes me is how the previous gen looks two generations older than it is!

The body reminiscent of a 911 with the roofline reminiscent of a Continental GT.

I have an issue with such Compact size as the 911 is already a little too compact for me. If this baby was about 10" more stretched out I'd say it would 180% be my next car. Still, I think it's the top candidate for my next car. Beauty is, a modestly equipped Cayman S probably won't be all so insanely more expensive than what I'm driving now.

Porsche has one of the most extensive equipment lists I've ever seen. Probably not in the USA, but in Europe it can get a bit crazy by the time you've ticked every box.
