Marry me?![]()
When I saw that you quoted me in this thread I knew right away what is written
Making the same mistake a second time?... no thanks I'll find someone better
Let's not gayrail this thread too
Marry me?![]()
^Not a fan of the fake rear strut brace. They even gave a lame reason why it is there - I paraphrase here - "Ferrari and others display their engine through the rear window, our engine is too low (so far so good), so we put a fake brace there so there is something to look at". Whatever happened to form follows function? Why not a whole fake engine then? But minor kink in an otherwise flawless diamond.
Can you guys tell me what the differences between the Cayman S and regular Cayman are? ASIDE from the obvious 50 extra HP/larger motor? I mean, are there any other standard features, be it technical, suspension, exterior, interior differences that are accounted in that extra $9K?

And yes, I thought those were speakers/woofers as well, big joke by Porsche to make them fake struts! I would have rather had a flat surface for more real estate to lay things there if need be! I'd tint the back window black anyway.![]()
Go with the S or look somewhere else other than Porsche. Avoid the wheels in the fotos and get the Carrera S wheels.
Saw this car at Auto Show today. Absolutely STUNNING, BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT. It doesn't even seem too small for me, and headroom is adequate in the Boxster, which means it should be even a tad bit better in the Cayman apparently.
By far my most aspirational car to get, and beauty is, it's $30K cheaper than the previous aspirational car I want/ed (991 Base), and that's for the S model.
Do you find it sexier than a Boxster ? Because the Boxster is one amazingly good looking sportscar.
You know what, I'll start this by saying I HATE Convertibles.
BUT, I LOVE the new Boxster.
I think the new Cayman absolutely crushed the Boxster in style and presence, because: The roofline is just downright sexy, and reminding me of an Aston, it ads a great deal of extra exotic to the car. The rear window kink at the top, and the overall greenhouse also give me a subtle Bentley vibe, which IMO gives the car a much more expensive look than the Boxster.
Finally, the Cayman has more aggressive bumpers and cladding, i.e the front of the Cayman is cut aggressively enough to where the Boxsters front next to it looked a bit soft and "plain-ish", also little touches (for us in the U.S at least, who deal with this stuff) like the Cayman having clear front markers VS the Boxsters orange markers add to the Cayman's presence-effect.
I always thought to myself: "Damn, I love this Boxster even as a Convertible so much that the Cayman will hopefully be my dream car", and looks as if that's the case.
I will also apprehensively say, and this coming from someone who will never admit to liking a Porsche *more* than a 911 who's 991 incarnation IMO is an amazing evolution, that seeing the Cayman in frame with the 991..... made.... the 911.... look..... a..... bit..... plain? Don't tell anybody I said that.![]()
The roofline is nowhere as clumsy as the old Mk1 Cayman, right ? Cause I hate the old roofline with a passion.

What, the struts are fake? I thought they were speakers or woofers.
While we are on the topic of inter-Porsche fratricide, for me a tougher choice than a 991 would be between a Cayman S and a 997.1 GT3.
Seriously, who cares? Nitpicking for the sake of it?
It's nothing new. I don't think the side vents on an E46 M3 are functional either, yet I never hear anyone about them...
...and before people start claiming those vents are functional:
"Take them apart....BOTH sides. It's a plastic plate that inserts with slats. Nothing goes in, nothing comes out. No gasses, No brake venting, no pixie dust, no magical fairy farts."
^^ nicely said by a mber on another forum. So this trend in faking stuff is nothing new.
I am quite sure older and more special cars are filled with fake stuff too. It's just that people are zooming in on it these days...
