Cayenne Official: Porsche Cayenne MKII

The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV, and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle.
This is a bit embarrasing. I think I like it. Alot.

I can almost imagine myself driving along over the fields and up the woodland roads up to the stand on the first day of the roe deer battue...

Breaking news: after a couple of scanned magazine photos gave us our first glimpse at the new 2011 Porsche Cayenne earlier today, a whole batch of official images of Stuttgart's completely redesigned SUV model have just been published online.

The verdict is still out on the new Cayenne's styling, but from what we can tell by these images, the next generation of Porsche's most profitable model looks less clumsy and a bit more sleeker than its predecessor thanks to a lowered roofline, steeper angle of the rear tailgate and sharper looking snout.

Then again there's that awkwardly styled rear end that could be mistaken for any other SUV - Crossover model - you didn't hear the word "Nissan" from us...

The interior has been redesigned from the ground up with the dashboard and center and lower consoles looking very similar to the Panamera sports sedan.

The new Cayenne shares its platform with the also new Volkswagen Touareg while using various mechanical bits and pieces from the Panamera.

And even though it has grown in length some 40mm, like the Touareg, Porsche's SUV model is somewhere around 200kg or about 440 pounds lighter than the outgoing Cayenne.

From what we know, powetrain options will include the VW Group-sourced 3.6-liter V6 petrol with 300HP (also found in the Panamera) and 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel with 240HP, as well as a 4.8-liter V8 in naturally aspirated (Cayenne S 400HP) and turbocharged forms (Cayenne Turbo 500HP).

Furthermore, the Cayenne will be offered with the same diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain as the Touareg coupling a 3.3-liter supercharged V6 TSI producing 333HP and 265 lb-ft of torque to a 47HP electric motor for a total output of 380HP and 428 lb-ft.

The 2011 Cayenne will have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show early next week and go on sale this Spring.

:t-cheers:

Pathetic.

Just the same heavy blob as before, only with Hyundai Santa-Fe rear lights and a less massive stance.

The front of the Turbo looks either like a joke, or like an already riced-out Gemballa version of the current one.
Front of the normal looks just as heavy as currently. The side, too.

Well, at least the interior looks extremely good.

German pricing:
Cayenne 55.431 Euro (46.400 Euro - tax excluded)
Cayenne Diesel 59.596 Euro (49.900 Euro)
Cayenne S 72.686 Euro (60.900 Euro)
Cayenne S Hybrid 78.636 Euro (65.900 Euro)

the front is amazing but the rear? lol.....
i found this....:)

Porsche’s new Cayenne will have much improved off-road ability than the model it replaces, Autocar has learned while on an exclusive development ride along in the new luxury SUV.
Jurgen Zoellter joined Porsche’s head of development Rolf Frech and his team in the UAE to test the Cayenne’s resilience to hot weather, as well as its ability to cope with the extreme conditions of a 300ft sand dune known as Big Red.

Off-road ability

Advancements have been made to the Cayenne’s centre and rear locking differentials, its air suspension, traction control and torque vectoring system to improve its off-road ability over the old car.
The Cayenne Turbo model tested was able to go up and down Big Red four times, with the speed rarely dropping below 30mph. “You couldn’t do that in the current Turbo,” said Frech. “It would have got stuck, worn out or both.”
The only problem encountered on Big Red was the fifth climb, where the rear differential overheated and refused to lock. The Cayenne was left to cool for five minutes before beginning another descent and it was a problem Frech was unconcerned about.
“These are extreme conditions and eventually something had to give,” he said. I’m confident few owners will subject their cars to such punishment.
“Overall, I’m very happy. The car is a big improvement from the last one; it’s more finely honed – more of a Porsche than before.”
Design

While in UAE, Zoellter also learned more about the new Cayenne’s design and mechanicals. Like the Volkswagen Touareg it is based on, the Cayenne has been given a complete makeover, while also making use of Panamera architecture and mechanicals.
It has grown by 45mm over the outgoing model, 40mm of this growth occurring in its wheelbase. This is mainly to create more legroom for rear passengers.
The new Cayenne also weighs in almost 200kg lighter than the old model. A Cayenne S will have a kerb weight of 2095kg. These weight reductions have mainly been achieved by the use of more aluminium in its construction. This is most notable in its bonnet, doors, axles and front bumper.
Model range and new features

When the new Cayenne reaches UK showrooms in the summer, three models will be available. These are a 296bhp 3.6-litre Cayenne V6, a 394bhp 4.8-litre Cayenne S and a 493bhp Cayenne Turbo. A V6 diesel and a hybrid are expected to follow later in the year.
The Cayenne Turbo model will be able to crack 0-62mph in 4.6sec.
The old Cayenne’s variable-height, roll-controlled air suspension has been retained, but its low-range transfer gearbox has been dropped. Unlike the Panamera’s dual-clutch ‘box, the Cayenne gets a torque convertor automatic.
“The PDK system couldn’t cope with high-stress, low-speed manoeuvres like rock crawling without overheating,” said Frech.
The Aisin-supplied gearbox in the new Cayenne has shorter first and second gears to boost acceleration and taller seventh and eight gears to boost motorway efficiency.
Cayenne hybrid

Later this year Porsche will add a Cayenne hybrid model to the range. This will be powered by a 328bhp V6 petrol engine and a 34kW electric motor, which should ensure the hybrid is good for 34.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 193g/km.
Frech said the addition of the hybrid Cayenne was necessary as it is Porsche’s biggest seller and contributor to its fleet CO2 average. But he added that the CO2 emissions across the range were down 23 per cent, and three of the five Cayennes capable of achieving almost 30mpg.

Hmm, can't tell if I like it or not?

Interior looks very good.

Rear end looks VERY anonymous and poor (since when did German designers start copying Hyundai's for rear end inspiration? I don't get it :t-crazy2:).

The car doesn't have much character, and looks a bit anonymous everywhere except for the front end, the curves and lines/shapes are very much akin to lots of Asian SUV/Crossovers.

I think it'll sell very well, I can already see every wealthy housewife in one, it's a safe design, with a nice interior, cute elements, and the Porsche cache and sporty edge.

I never liked the original, and so far, I think I like this one better, off of initial reaction.

Why Porsche always has some problem with the rear of the car. I really don't understand. :t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea

It's almost perfect. ALMOST.....:t-banghea:t-banghea

I like the front.

The back is terrible, the lights are korean and it looks a little ridiculous to have "Porsche" and "Cayenne" written in the middle so large and right on top of eachother.

Interior looks great though.

I didn't like the first Cayenne and I don't like this one either. I still looks like some sort of exotic frog from the front, and the Korean rear end is just plain boring.

LMAO @ exotic frog ...I think it's just the way the grill is...Like it's driving around with a open mouth or something.

Wow i like this alot..
Even the rear..the lights could have been a bit slimmer though..
But the front is SUPERB..as is the interior..

I think this is my new FAV SUV:)

The front is an facelift-type front... it's better then the current but nothing evolutionary.

The rear is... I don't... there's something I love about it but there's also something that's weird about it.

Wow, surprisingly ugly  Only good that I see in it is the interior and not even that is even close to the best interiors Ive seen. And when I looked at your comments it seems that only me and MikeJ don't like the car at all. Guess its something strange with us Finns ;)

To tell you the truth...It looks as expected. No huge change exterior wise from the previous model front wise. The interior took some lessons from the Panny. There is no big WOW factor.

It's fine and I am sure it will serve it's purpose well.

In general nothing exiting. I like front from Cayenne S ant rear from Turbo. Nice interior. All together disappointment. :jpshakehe
