I don't think I could ever drive a car with a huge number on its side... The interior is nice, though.

What it comes down to is that this is a RWD, manual Turbo... with less power and costing 30% more. You can also get a GTS with a manual and although that has less power, it's lighter so the performance won't be too different - and that's half the price of this. This very clearly seems to be a collector model only.

I feel exactly the same way. It's either a vanity purchase or aimed at buyers with a really niche set of requirements. If I wanted a manual + RWD, I'd go NA and hence GT3.

That's a good analysis.

Besides the clear WOW effect its design has on me (provided you can get one without the huge numbers on the side, and the stripe line) and its awesome interior, the rest is a little let down and can hardly justify the big price gap vs a GT3 Touring, which will sound better and likely have pretty close performances !

It's such a nice, well-rounded package. I'd love it in Aventurine Green sans decals but with a subtle "PORSCHE" running along the sides. I love that side profile. And that interior spec with the leather, Pepita inserts, and paldao wood inserts... class class class.

You talk as if a Turbo engine + RWD + manual gearbox is something ordinary.

lulz

This is very special indeed.

You maybe, but could there be people who want all the goodness with a Turbo engine instead? One which you don't have to rev to high heavens to make an impact? Definitely a whole lot more than they are making.

I am kinda likening the SC to a Touring version of what a the GT2 RS will be. For those who want the big-engined Turbo but with a good dose more refinement, your limited-edition ride has arrived.

Did they adopt the GT3's front suspension or are they sticking with the Macpherson struts up front?

A side note: A top condition 991 911 R having a documented service history will currently command a price of some 450K Euros and perhaps considerably upwards of that. That's some pretty impressive appreciation for an automobile that initially listed at 190K Euros new just over six years ago.

GTS and Turbo's suspension i.e. struts up front and no double wishbones. Same 7 speed gearbox as for the cooking 911s and not the bespoke 6 speed as per GT3.

So, it's the same car as a 992 GTS but with a bigger displacement engine, a fancy paintjob, houndstooth seat panels and a big fat number on the door. Oh and ducktail FTW for some...

It does 0-100 km/h in 4.1s which is identical to the GTS. It has a 4 km/h higher top-end. You'd get smoked by the cheapskate in his PDK-equipped GTS.
And it's twice the price. It's just not smart money, no matter how much you have. Sorry Porsche but this little "exclusive" side-hustle you've got going is BS.

Cynical exercise in marketing and sales, perhaps.... but I do love how it looks. If I had buttload of money, I'd probably be the ideal rube to target. ;)

Since I am not a mechanical engineer, I cannot say with any certainty, but I doubt the front double-wishbone suspension would confer any additional refinement over how the car drives. But I think it'd benefit having the 6-sp manual from it. As per usual with these kind issues, I'll defer to the experts on here.
