This is, once again, automotive perfection. I could buy each new generation Carrera and only replace it with its successor and be happy with it.
 
I like that little gear selector. Opens up the centre console space nicely. So, now to put the PDK in manual mode you press the M button behind the selector stalk as a opposed to currently knocking the gear lever to the left.
Also, park is activated by a similar button labeled "P" leaving the gear selector purely for R, N and D selection.

One of the things filed under, I can live with but would have been better -
Why didn't they just make it all just buttons and get rid of the nub and make the center console thinner and less Panny/Cayenne like and more old school 911.
 
That shifter though. Guessing they'll use it for the electric Porsches too.
The door handles were unnecessary too.

A solid but worthy evolution. I hope MINI are paying attention.

Yeah, not a fan of the center console cupholder or the e-brake placement either. I think I've been pretty obvious about my dislike of the "shifter," but I have more to say...This is a sportscar, it'd been nice to still have the ability to choose your gear from a lever along with the paddles. The 911, for the most part, eschews frivolty to give the driver a focused, very capable, practical, everyday sportscar. But there were some elements that did provide that sense of occasion, and the PDK shifter from 991 gen was one of those elements.

That said, I still like how it looks. I think the exterior is the right amount of evolution and the interior is throughly modern and well-done, except for the aforementioned lapses. It's still number one on the list of sportscars that I'd want as my first sportscar. I'd go for a spec reminiscient of the 1960's with an Irish Green exterior with Fuchs-inspired five spoke wheels and a dark brown or cognac leather interior with either wood(!) or alu trim and houndstooth fabric seats.
 
Hmmm, no mention of a manual transmission in the brochure... is it dead?
 
Does anyone know if the rear width of the 992 is wider than the wide body 991 or not?

Dark blue seems conservative but elegant. The yellow works well if you want some attention although GR may be a better choice. I wonder how the silver's will look IRL, they seem a little dull in these early photo's.
 
I tend to find blue to be great on most cars, this 911 included. But the greens will look lovely on this....Oak Tree metallic, Irish Green, Brewster.
