:D

992 feels like a caricature of the original 911, and I don't necessarily mean that in a good way.

I watched the stream of last night's debut. It was painful on so many levels.

Yeah, the presenation was....odd. I like Webber, but he's a better presenter on video than live.

Another issue I have, which is more in line with issues I have with new cars coming out in general, every dimension is just bigger. And with the elimination of the narrow body, gone is the option of a lithe-looking 911. I am not too sad about it, but it's definitely a big change.

Does anyone know if the rear width of the 992 is wider than the wide body 991 or not?

At 1852mm, identical to that of the 991 widebodies.

It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming 992 Turbo derivatives exceed the 1880mm width of the 991 versions.

Very nice brown interior from the brochure :

Is possibility of wook trim new for the 911 ?

the 997 had wood as an option. Let's not forget that thought Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur you can get any interior inlay you fancy.

I think extremely few 992 will have wood inside. It's a cool retro option but IMO it clashes with the futuristic rear end and overall edgy look of the exterior.

I find the wood trim very appealing, because it's something different from the trivial aluminium and carbon trims in almost every car nowadays...

I get your point, but on the other end, it seems to blend nicely with the brown leather. Curious to see it in real. After all, there was wood on the gearlever of the Carrera GT !

...with the optional Sport Chrono Package, to 3.2 seconds for the Carrera 4S.

Oh, it's fast! Official Porsche's 3.2 would be ~3 seconds.

As the 911 appears to become nearer in proximity to an elegant, luxurious 2+2 GT with each evolution, I can be left smitten by a tastefully-configured wood appointed interior.

But in a Cayman, for example, not so much.

I think someone needs to buy GCF a beer ;) The next gen GT3 will stay NA

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Rendered, Naturally Aspirated Flat-Six Coming

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Rendered, Naturally Aspirated Flat-Six Coming

By now, anybody with an Internet connection at least a slight interest in automobiles has seen the 992 Porsche 911. The 2020 Neunelfer landed at the Los Angeles Motor Show earlier this week, with the sportscar coming in Carrera S and Carrera 4S Coupe forms for now. However, the time has come to look into the future and talk about the special version of the eight-gen 911.

You see, while we were all staring at the not-that-different styling of the 2020 911, Porsche engineers were out testing the 2020 911 Turbo and the 2020 911 GT3 (check out the links for spy material and more info on each model).

We'll get to meet the standard, non-S Carreras in 2019, while the second half of the year will bring us the Turbo and the GT3.

Nevertheless, we can now talk about the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and we've brought along a rendering of the Rennsport toy.

The pixel play we have here does a pretty good job at portraying the next 3RS. The image borrows multiple elements for the current model, namely the exhaust layout, rear wing, engine cover, rear wing air intakes, the front wing air extractors, the wheels and, of course, the decals on the side of the vehicle.

Note that the render does include the magnesium wheels, but we can't say the same thing about the Weissach Package (there's no visible carbon on the roof).

Sure, it's too early to be certain about the tech side of the future 911 GT3 RS, but we're expecting this to maintain the configuration of the current car, mixing a naturally aspirated flat-six with a PDK-only setup.

For one thing, the 992 GT3 will come with an atmospheric engine, while once again offering a manual as an option (the PDK is obviously on the list), with this having been confirmed by the soundtrack of various test cars.

The 2019 GT3 RS has stunned us with its Nurburgring lap time - keep in mind that we're talking about a 520 hp vehicle that can blitz the Green Hell in 6:56. So we're expecting the next one to also be a blast.

Speaking of which, we're curious to see how the Zuffenhausen engineers work to compensate for the 50+ kg weight gain of the 992.

Meanwhile, you can indulge in the aero-dictated lines of the rendering below. Or you can check out this Cabriolet rendering.
