718 Boxster/Cayman (982) [Official] Porsche 718 Boxster

The Porsche 982 is the internal designation of the fourth generation Boxster/Cayman (third generation Cayman) made by Porsche. The two models have been marketed as the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman. Production: 2016–2025
So can PASM Sport Boxster can be raised 10mm in either direction from a reference height of a non-PASM Boxster?

No.

The way you worded your post implied that PASM provided the ability for the car to lowered (or raised) by the driver.

Not liking the changes to the car that much, the front and profile look nice, but the back light graphics look cheapish and that section in between with the raised lettering looks very weird. Interior looks good but not spectacular. Still probably is a fantastic car to drive

So this is a completely new car right ?

If I understand things correctly, this is the facelift of the 981 Boxster. They changed the 918 model number to 718 for bigger headlines and to signify the change from N/A H6 to turbocharged H4.

As far as I understand it, the underlying code will be "981". So this is a "981.2". The "718 Boxster" nomenclature is just a marketing name, a bit like "911 Carrera" being a 991. You're right that they did this to turn the negative of moving to 4-cylinder turbocharging into a positive, as it makes a connection between the Porsche 718 from the 1950s.

"918" is the hybrid hypercar, although maybe you meant to write 981 and it was a typo?

I expected them to launch the 718 Cayman at the same time, but they didn't.

Indeed the 981.2 should be the underlying code, but there is no mention of such in the Porsche press site.

The code is 982. The Porsche engineers changed the internal model number as they believe they really changed more things than just a facelift.

Matrix LEDs, HUD and a more intuitive infotainment system are coming with the 983 in 2020.

I really dislike what the designers have done. While the 911 looks great, they mucked up the front end on this.

Chris continues to be rather vocal about Porsche

The engine sounds great in this video, but the quality of the video is not fantastic.

I understand the need to reduce CO2 emissions, but they should have kept the six cylinders, even in the case of downsizing and turbo-charging.

I must say I agree with Chris Harris with respect to the fraudulent historical link with the original 718.
The original 718 were lightweight and naturally aspirated race cars.
The 718 makes no weight saving compared to the 981.1 and have a turbocharger.

But times they are changing. My hope is that Porsche produced the "best" turbocharged H4 cylinder engines. The only real engine comparison would be Subaru with their boxer 4 on the WRX and WRX STI.

Oh, and that little manetino like protrusion from the steering wheel is a horrible thing! Porsche doesn't need to copy other performance cars.

As much as I appreciate Harris' reviews, his apathy towards non-manual cars and turbo engines is getting all too predictable at this point. Most of the recent reviews on the 991.2 Carrera and the new engines have been mostly positive, with praise on increased torque and torque delivery.

He has no problem with turbos from other manufacturers. It's really just the turbos in the recent Porsches that he has had an issue with.

I need to better understand why I find the AMG/BMW M turbo-converts so much more successful than the 911's. "
