So this is a completely new car right ?
If I understand things correctly, this is the facelift of the 981 Boxster. They changed the 918 model number to 718 for bigger headlines and to signify the change from N/A H6 to turbocharged H4.
Pops has got the shizz, tits, coldness (or whatever other obscure adjective LaArtist can conjure up) right there. An absolute and instant classic. Congrats to him - I'm sincerely jealous.Good thing my dad just picked up a Spyder earlier today. It's a monster.View attachment 361290 View attachment 361291
"918" is the hybrid hypercar, although maybe you meant to write 981 and it was a typo?
As far as I understand it, the underlying code will be "981". So this is a "981.2". The "718 Boxster" nomenclature is just a marketing name, a bit like "911 Carrera" being a 991. You're right that they did this to turn the negative of moving to 4-cylinder turbocharging into a positive, as it makes a connection between the Porsche 718 from the 1950s.
As much as I appreciate Harris' reviews, his apathy towards non-manual cars and turbo engines is getting all too predictable at this point. Most of the recent reviews on the 991.2 Carrera and the new engines have been mostly positive, with praise on increased torque and torque delivery.
