I saw this one yesterday and I also had a 5' drive around the block with it.
My friend (who's thinking of buying one and for some strange reason is a Peugeot enthusiast) was thrilled about it, loved the design, loved the diesel engine and loved the way it drove. If believe that needs optional wheels and colours for the design to stand out. The interior is weird, but not bad. The materials are quite good for the class, yet the way its layed out takes some time to get used to.
You sit quite high, the steering is feather light, yet highly accurate and the ride is comfortable enough. It was extremely easy to drive, requiring no effort at all. The diesel engine was infuriating me at idle and it was still noticeable in cruising speeds and at stop and go traffic - not something I am happy with in a 2017 car. Yet, it had a nice punch and didn't seem to have problems to move the car with 5 adults and luggage.
If it were my money, I'd never consider a 3008, but for someone with family, who prefers to drive around in something difference than an everyone-and-his-mother-drives-one VW it's a cute choice. Given that this car will spend its life either in 5' commute or driving across the country with the family, the stuff required by a 2-year-old and soon a newborn, I think its a good buy.
Seriously, it's a well sorted car, very different from your bread and butter german offerings. If you dare to be different, it's worth it.
It's a shame the way it will depreciate, though.
If it were me, though, I'd go for an A3 sedan with the same price, despite not being so well equipped.
