GT-R [Official] Nissan GT-R NISMO 2014

The Nissan GT-R (Gran Turismo–Racing; model code: R35) is a series of cars built by Nissan from 2007 to 2025. It has a 2+2 seating layout and is considered both a sports car and a grand tourer. The engine is front-mid mounted and drives all four wheels. It succeeds the Nissan Skyline GT-R, a high-performance variant of the Nissan Skyline. The car is built on the PM platform, derived from the FM platform used in the Skyline and Nissan Z models. Production is conducted in a shared production line at Nissan's Tochigi plant in Japan.

"The Nismo-tuned GT-R makes use of an uprated twin-turbo V6 3.8-liter engine which now develops 595 HP (438 kW) and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm), up from the previous 545 HP (401 kW) and 463 lb-ft (627 Nm) of torque. The increased output was possible after revising the intake and exhaust systems, as well as by installing bigger turbochargers derived from the GT3-spec model and modifying the ignition timing. Nissan mentions it would have been possible to squeeze additional power from the engine but at the risk of damaging the gearbox.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo sits on 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in 255/40RF-20 run-flat Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST tires which provide more grip than before. The vehicle will be available with an optional track package which was capable of lapping the Nürburgring in 7:08.69 at the end of September when it was driven by Michael Krumm, an ex FIA GT1 champion.

This optional kit will encompass several carbon fiber body parts, along with a front splitter and a massive rear spoiler. Those carbon fiber bits and pieces will shave off a significant 143 lbs (64.8 kg) from the car's curb weight. In addition, the package will also encompass various chassis tweaks, manually-adjustable Öhlins shocks and different springs with a lighter rate."

I know. It seems unbelievable. Now we wait for the video. ;)

I can't think of anything more annoying (and boring!) than these two words next to each other: GT-R & Nürburgring...

Also the 2.5 sec 0-100 km/h time is just as unbelieveable as the 2.7 s of the actual car was. No-one was able to get close to that number.

But the package looks great on the GT-R.

Wow..if true

Nissan has released videos of their previous claims. Of course, people still cry foul. Give credit where it is due, GTR is the king of numbers for anything close to it's price range. Also the folly in chasing it. I feel sad when I see the Germans benchmarking against it.

A video means nothing if it was made at the hands of Nissan Marketing Inc. You know it, we know it, everyone knows it.

But it is somehow different if made at the hands of Porsche Marketing Inc instead?

I am no fan of Nissan or the GTR, but come on guys, at least be consistent. Either none of the videos mean anything including Porsche ones or they all stand for what it is (which IMO is the best the manufacturers can do with their own cars under ideal conditions with probably some tweaking but we will never know how much and that is fine).

Porsche and Mercedes have both used the GTR as a benchmark when they are testing their prototypes so Nissan must be doing something right.

Live stream seems to start at 9.30AM GMT - let's still wait a little. LINK to GTR Blog for those interested.

Looks like he is absolutely on it :). Still, it is true that all the factory lap times are inherently suspect. But at least it gives us some fun...

I think is much more beliveble/repetable this 7'08"68 than the famous 7'26 of GT-R MY09

He did some mistakes. You might even call them major in a time attack and the time is still amazing.
I can't wait for CH to get his hands on this car.
Also to see what the press can achieve at The Ring :)
