E-Class W214 [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

Everyone has his own opinion. I for one did not have a problem with hitting my legs on the lower parts of the dash in the new E-Class.
I am right at the average height for an American male. The rear area is where the E-Class could have used a little more space. The BMW 5-Series seemed more roomy overall. The material quality in the general areas in the new E is head and shoulder above the previous model IMO and is up there with the 5-Series. I believe most journalists would agree me on that one.
There have been complaints on here about the appearance of the UI in the E-Class but I can say, after using it compared to the 5-Series and Audi A6, and A8 models, (even compared to the Porsche) MBux is more intuitive and customizable and less "factory feeling" compared to the 5-Series and Audi A6. The new E is not perfect as no car is but it is walking away with more awards than the competition at this stage.

Agreed.

To describe the E-Class's interior quality as 'Terrible' is absolute rubbish. There's a feeling of solidity and quality that is missing from the W213 and there are notable improvements in tactile quality, linings, assembly detail etc. The lack of trim and relatively plain design of the door cards are certainly a step backward though.

I do understand the comments about the interior space, because the design concept is very 'cocooning'. It would be interesting to see real comparative numbers against the W213.

It is the best E-class since the W211 IMO and a very thoroughly developed vehicle that is a class benchmark in many respects.

I know that feeling. The problem is except some EV’s the cockpits are becoming more and more cramped.

The worst new car I was sitting in was the Peugeot 3008/5008
It’s not only that your legs are hitting everything, it’s just that the space is claustrophobic af.

Just looking at that gives me anxiety

My next trip back home I will see if I can go look at the W214, I am curious to see the interior and feel the difference in build quality with my W213. There is nothing seriously wrong or cheap about the build in the W213, it is still mostly very solid and feels expensive, especially the aluminium trim piece on the dash and doors feel nice to the touch and my cars seat material with MB-Tex bolsters and Microfiber inner panels feels really classy.

Only the creaking noise on the center armrest and the top of the doors lets it down when you push on it is a slight disappointment. But then mine is an earlier 2016 first year model, so maybe the later cars are better.

I much prefer the styling on my car than the 2021 FL models.

Based on my back to back drive of the 214 and 213, I can say that the W214 felt more solid at certain areas, eg the lower dashboard and transmission tunnel feels more solid, and assembled more tightly. The window switches have a more precise actuation and movement.

The dinner door cards of the 214 is the real disappointment, the lack of wood rim, and the semi floating silver plastic arm rest/window switch section feels cheap and toy like.

Our 213 was built in early 2019, so far the only creak is from the rear view mirror, when we drive over harsh bumps.

To me W206 central tunnel and edge of the screen presses onto my leg when I'm using Distronic and my foot is not on the pedal. I don't have this problem in the W214 (round middle tunnel, and no sharp edge of the screen) nor in the X254 (new GLC) where there is the same styling setup as in the W206, but the whole central tunnel is a bit higher up. So to me W206 is pretty much a no go or I need to have my leg pushed in a not really natural way for me - during the time I use Distronic. The seats on the W206 are more firm, after 1-2 hours I can already feel my bottom, much better in the W214. For this reason I'd buy W214/X254 over W206. I'm 185cm/6'1. My friend is owner of W206, he is a little shorter than me let's say around 180cm/5'11 and his knee is not pressed on the sharp edge of the screen. So all of this is super individual based on height, seating position, etc. But he agrees on the firmness of the seat, that it could be softer for sure. Even all compact Mercedes (A, CLA, GLA, GLB) have much softer seats than W206.

Hey guys I am thinking of getting the new E-class. Basically fully specced. Is there a way to get the best price possible? I've heard you can haggle some discounts if it's brand new car? The salesman didnt look too keen on giving a discount by himself

It’s a spec that channels older Benzes that were more spartan and classic. That seat pattern is 50 years old or more.

M

This is the kind of spec I like. Wood trim and no superscreen with either brown or cream seats. I think even red seats or chocolate brown would look fantastic in the E-class. I wonder if they will bring the Manufaktur specs like in the S-class to the E-class.

And in the US market the CLE desperately needs more colors options inside and out. The current selection is terrible. Manufaktur on the E and CLE would be a revelation.

Sat again in a E class New at Mercedes Sandton

Just loved sitting in it the quality is mot one level up on C but 2 to 3

It's very well fitted and built and the heater seats are amazing.

My cousin bought a GLC coupe and I went to help them for collection

The GLC coupe is a beauty but the E is a few levels up in quilty and fitment

They had a grey demo it was beautiful

This is a Real E..

My cousin and wife sold their BMW and bought a GLC they amazed with the MBUX and felt it was a much easier system to use then the BMW system they said they got familiar very quick to the system and more easier to use.

Brilliant feedback. I have only sat in the new C and EQE. I wasn't impressed. Will pop to my local dealer this week and check out the E.

I had test drives with both in the same day. E class felt on different level right after you've just sit inside. CLE felt like slightly better C class. The most shocking part were the seats that were not so comfortable even compared to the base C class.
