So no Mercedes has not said this = you don't know what you're talking about. YES it is. The new 2024 Lexus GX550 is arriving in SPRING of 2024. Is that also an "egregious corporate failure"? The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is showing up at dealers in SPRING of 2024. Need more examples? There have been many cars that come out in the spring of the model year they're introduced for. Mercedes has had spring introductions before. Are you kidding or just that uninformed? The entire industry hasn't been on a typical model year introduction with many cars for years. Where have you been? You don't know what you're talking about point blank. I'm not defending anyone, I'm just pointing out that what you're saying is sheer BS. There is no "corporate malfeasance", that's just stupid man. It's a late car introduction, not lying about the effects of cigarettes or opioids. A failure by Mercedes is the switch to a 4-cylinder to replace both a V6 and V8. That is a real failure that is causing discounts in their home market to gin up some interest in the car. No one but you and other other person are hollering about a failure for a car going sale a few months later than planned in one market.

All you're doing is pointing out exceptions to the rule. I prefer to focus on the typical way things are done in the car biz. M-B has failed miserably here. There's no getting around that simple fact. But feel free to keep trying to normalize this mess.

O.K guys, let's go to a lighter note, I've heard the rumors that the MY2004 will be here soon (assuming March 0f 24). I wonder why they offer the 4MATIC version instead of the basic RWD. Is the 4MATIC the one with a small electric motor to put more juice into the car? Otherwise, this car is the one with the W206 engine and won't be able to push the car from 0-60 within 6s. Your input please.

There is no rule. Where is this rule written and by whom? The car biz doesn’t follow this so called rule all the time either. There is no rule and what you prefer is irrelevant. The only mess is what you’re saying here. MBUSA has bigger problems, real problems but this isn’t one of them.

^ a basic version of the E class

Indeed it is. It's so basic that it didn't even come with hubcaps*.

*Yes, I know it's a car fresh off the factory that just arrived at the dealer. No need to point me that out. Sad, sad, SAD times we live in when I have to put a f#cking disclaimer to tell that it's a freaking joke.

Basic but not poverty spec.

The interior looks fine. Unlike the leather in higher trims, the denim sections of the seats aren’t saggy or wrinkled. I would ride it.

Absolutely agree. Realizing it’s the base version exterior and interior, it looks more than acceptable, no, it looks even good. It’s been a long time since I could say that about a base version.

If mercedes can give us an E63S Black Series using the W214 and the V8 as the platform, I think I would die a happy man. I think its the one main model that hasn't had a Black series, and if there are to be no more V8 63 AMG E classes, I hope they do this as a swan song. Would be much better than the "Final Edition" we currently have to deal with.

Basic E-class is still more luxurious than your neighbour's Mondeo Ghia or is it Titanium? I'm from a time when fancy Fords had a Ghia badge.
