The new arse is a bit of a farce.

Looks so weird to me. The current generation, especially the pre-FL was one of the best looking sedans on the market, but this… I really don’t know. I might get used to those headlights but the taillights and those graphics are horrendous.

The proportions on this are flippin' perfect.

Rear light graphics and the overall need to repeatedly have the 3-point star plastered everywhere reeks of a brand not feeling to sure of itself. There's something to be said of quiet confidence in an age where so many feel the need to get themselves noticed.

I don't mind the little wavy line on the headlight units' bottom, but it looks odd replicated on the rear lights.

While initially hesitant, the blacked trim around the grille on the AMG Night package looks acceptable, but on the Exclusive trim, it looks absolutely criminal.

And now, what of the powertrain options? Give me this with the inline-6 and call it an E500, and I'd be happy.

THIS! They had a winner on their hands and they ruined it… morons! This car had the qualities to be the most handsome E after the W124 and they ruined it. Compare the tail light graphics on the S and this looks like a Mansory special. Not cool Mercedes, not cool

Colossal improvement imho, though one can argue the FL w213 was the worst looking E class in comparison …. ever ?

Looking at that it's a massive improvement.

When you look at the rear head on those lights look lovely.

Love how the bonnet slopes to left and right.

Massive improvement over the 213 and a lot to take in visually with everything going on. Stupid TikTok camera aside, the 214 E-Class is probably the closest the model has ever been to the S-Class. That luxury model with the hood ornament has the stance of an S-Class.

Meh. Looks good in certain colours and trims. The side profile is the best angle. The rear light graphics are as tacky as it gets. There's not really room for further analysis because bracketing the facelifts at the front and back, we've seen this very design language from Mercedes in smaller or larger forms for more than a decade. The E-Class is and remains what it has been recently: a safe choice for the Merc loyalist.

w213 as a comparison
The placement of the rear lights here show a unique interpretation reminiscent of high luxury brands. The each corner rear light really broadens the rear of the car and provides a stately elegance and unique individuality in its respective segment.

I'm a big fan of the W214. Sure, the Mercedes symbols in the lights are perhaps a bit gimmicky but I really do love the detailing everywhere else. This is a win in my book.

Much better, makes Gorden Wagener look like a fool again.
It’s funny because the new C Class looks awesome, especially in real life. It doesn’t have the weird light graphics or anything, yet it looks sleek and elegant. I just can’t fathom how they could mess up the design of the E like this. Those taillight graphics are giving me anxiety, especially those black grille surrounds.

I can't wait until some of you see those tail light graphics in real life. You're going to completely forget about them in a few months. At the clinic I went to a not-insignificant amount of people didn't even notice they were Mercedes symbols lol.
