The most beautiful E-class design since w211. A masterpiece that doesn't need 70 pages of discussion to love. It doesn't need to look different. Just beautiful.

Hard to judge about exclusive - lights, grill and black surrounding don't fit well.
The taillights are a bit "undecided", again that useless dumb plastic connection like GLC.
Absolut no-go the stars in the lights. That's too much, that's brutal and cheapish and there's plenty of area unused of lighting.
Why didn't they create a triangular big light, following the outline, and integrate some "negative" stars if they definitely want to have that everywhere ?
Still I stay a fan of the diamond grill, not the star patterns which are boringly placed.

I think there are two ways to think about it: 1) Go Obsidian Black and minimise the visual impact of the grille surround, or 2) Go Bright White and own the black grille surround. You know, a bit like with the balding guy: you either go with the comb-over look (i.e. Obsidian Black) or you own your bald head and completely shave off whatever hair you still have (i.e. Bright White). Which one is it? Bald and bold or sheepish comb-over?

Wow this E-class looks so elegant and majestic, more S-class than C-class this time. I love the classic grill and new exhaust tips in chrome looks so so classy. In AMG trim the grill looks flatter. The new rear lights with the flowing wave like shape with 3 pointed stars looks fantastic,

Happy with this.

Not the big fan of the black palstic, but nice modern interpertation of a modern E-class.

And happy because E-class is already exists, because I cannot get used the stlye and form of the electric range.

Now let's wait for the G60. I don't think it will look that effective. The headlights will look very similar to the X1. The overall silhouette will resemble the E-class. The interior won't be thrilling, with a classic display that looks similar to the G70. Mercedes may have come to the fore in design 2 generations later. BMW has been at the forefront of design since F10.

The side and rear will be very hard to beat.
It’s gorgeous.

I like it in dark trim, where the blacked out surrounding merges with the paint, but in bright conf. it just doesn’t look good. The headlights could come in 2015…

Overall, the front it gives me the sensation that the German trio has become very obsoloete designwise comparing it with the booming EV market.

The pre FL W213 is a fantastic looking car and one of the best E-class models ever, but this W214 runs it very close. The W214 looks a whole lot better than the FL W213.

Having driven the w213 for a few years and having a look at this new one.

Design wise I do prefer this by a margin it also looks more closer to the S then the previous one.

Personally I feel
They have done a great job.

This will be a very popular E before the days of full electric.


The rear looks very S class

The LED stars don't blend well at all with the shape of the rear lights. What an afterthought!
Otherwise in black it is goint to look killer (only in black).

Creases in the side definitely add some much needed athleticism to the soap-bar-esque outgoing model, but the front and rear are not an improvement to my eyes.

It's also becoming laughable how much Mercedes are falling back on the three-pointed star motif.

You act like a child, man. There is no need to downplay one for the other. Be happy about the new E class and stop downplaying a car that hasn't even be presented yet. It's dumb and childish.

As for the car, I like what I am seeing a lot. The best looking E class since the early '90s when they were still made by hand.
