I imagine they won't sell particularly well, which will basically result in all the R&D that has been put into them being thrown into the trash.

This is an understatement. The C43 launched in the UK this year. List price for the Plus model is £71k before options. Used ones with less than 1,300 miles are advertised for £54k by dealers. Trade in value might have been £40k. That’s a £30k depreciation in less than 12 months - in the first model year!

C63 is even more expensive, indicating that the E63 will likely priced at £115-130k. Concerning to say the least.

Yeah... unique mission... as though hammering home the F1 marketing isn't a fundamental part of all this...

If you love this, why wouldn't you love the AMG One, and if you love the AMG One, why wouldn't you love this?

Ha, love it. It's a real shame you weren't a member when the thread for the car started.
It might have been raved about on this forum, but Mercedes couldn't give two shillings short of a single f#ck about what anyone has to say in here.

Motoring journalists however, especially given how it was extraordinarily temperamental to actually drive, haven't really raved about it at all.

F1 marketing was also of course important. I'm not denying that. But nobody cares about that with the AMG 63 models. And rightly so.

E53 gets the standard Mercedes-Benz I6 engine combined with the P2 engine/hybrid system. It contains an electric engine with 129 or 136 hp. E range circa 80 km.
Technically it’s not an AMG engine, but the standard I6 M256M.

The P3 installation fizzled out. It was an unnecessary investment for today's cars, which are already heavy. The impact on performance is not as much as expected, and there is no EV range. AMG developed it for performance, but it's clear the customer didn't want that. From now on, we will see a lot of AMGs labeled "HYBRID".

Firstly. It's hugely disappointing that AMG aren't making their own hand-built version of the M256 - would have been really nice to see.

Secondly these numbers don't add up.
The engine alone produces 449bhp (which is somehow less than the M139L in the """63""" cars) and the electric P2 motor produces 124 or 136bhp, but the total power between both is 544bhp??
449+124 should be 573bhp no? Or if it's the 136bhp motor the total should be 585bhp???

You cant just add both HP figures, because those are max. HP stats. The ICE produced max. HP close to 5500RPM, the electric motor at lower RPM.

The AMG 4 cylinder S E Performance is one of the greatest misses in MB history.
According to my contact at a rather large dealership, they haven‘t sold a single C63 S E Performance yet, not one…
Why? Because it’s only a four cylinder?

Do different dealerships get more or less production slots or do some get them earlier than others? Looking to get a W214 (E450) ASAP.

Not quite sure yet but definitely want the i6 engine. Can't imagine why anyone gets a 4 cylinder engine in a car like this.

Yeah, the 450 looks like a sweet spot. It might be the wiser choice over the 53 AMG as well. Since they are going the bullshit hybrid way that weighs more than momma Merkel

Mother of god that's gorgeous. Unlike predecessors, it looks less like a hearse.

The subtle change to the shape of the third window and thinner C-pillar, are to thank for that.

The E-class was awarded 1st place in the Golden Steering Wheel in its class.

Mercedes and smart get some golden steering wheels in 2023
The Golden Steering Wheel is one of Germany's most coveted car awards, which was presented for the 47th time in Berlin on Tuesday. Since 1976, the "BILD am Sonntag" and the "AUTO BILD" have been awarding prizes to the best cars in Germany every year. Due to its history alone, the prize is blessed with prestige, but the neutral and multi-layered methodology of the selection also ensures a neutral selection and ensures that the winner is really the best car in the respective category.

The methodology: The prize is distinguished by the fact that it is awarded by the readers of "AUTO BILD" and a jury of experts. In the first step, readers select their favorite vehicles in a category and these are then tested and evaluated by the experts. These consist of technicians, motor sports enthusiasts and celebrities. Each evaluates different aspects of the vehicles based on their prior knowledge and focus.

I read today's AutoBild review on the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, and E-Class. I'll keep the conclusion briefly, focusing on the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes E-Class.

All three cars were equipped the same, the Audi missed out on Matrix LED lights though.

The Mercedes provides better acceleration at higher speeds (>130 km/h), slightly higher top speed, consumes the least fuel, exhibits superior braking performance with warm brakes, offers significantly more interior space, has the highest payload, and the smallest turning radius. Additionally, it is quieter inside.

The BMW is faster up to highway speed, on par in terms of infotainment, has better braking performance with cold brakes, can carry the highest roof load, and costs considerably less than the E-Class with the same features.

The E-Class excels in almost all aspects but comes at a significantly higher cost than the new 5 Series, which wins overall due to strong performance in every discipline.

The BMW and Mercedes have similar weights and drive almost identically, making them equal in terms of comfort and dynamics. It's no longer just a 'BMW or Mercedes' choice, according to AutoBild.

Interestingly, the Audi is almost as good as its competitors in everything, except infotainment and autonomous driving.

It is priced 8,000€ less than the BMW and nearly 20,000€ less than the Mercedes.

Guess which car I would choose.
