Interesting....

"The numbers increased from generation to generation. However, this series ended with the sixth generation, because the BMW 7 Series (G11, G12) "only" has 348,754 units worldwide and is therefore clearly behind of the previous generation (F01, F02)."

"The most important reason for this is the significantly increased competition within the company: While the first five generations were the undisputed flagship of luxury, the sixth 7 Series also had to assert itself against the first BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé (G16) and the first BMW X7 (G07)"

The G11’s main problem was the W222, it had just no chance. Uninspiring when launched and the LCI got just worse, with a heavy techno face sticked to an already outdated design. Its interior design was also from a past era.

The G70 on the other hand can change these numbers again. It’s for BMW what the W222 was for Mercedes. It’s Germans best premium sedan. It might not come close to the S-Class sale numbers, but it has everyting to be the best selling 7er.

Uninspiring when launched
I agree, the word uninspired apply, especially the front, from the side it is elegant and beautiful, but I don't remember that it caught anyone's attention, (which says a lot).
Its interior design was also from a past era.
The interior was more luxurious than before but on the same pattern, so much so that the "gesture control" was what differentiated it somewhat from its predecessor.

He will definitely do it, and it seems to me that he will surprise locals and strangers, there is a lot of positive noise around, that I have seen and is what I think

The G11/G12 didn't quite do as well as the previous generation in its best years, you can see this below - and at that point it wasn't really up against the 8-er or X7. Adding in the 8-er numbers pretty much removes the post LCI drop off, and the X7 just bolts on a tonne of volume.

Blue was 7
Red is all 8-er (current gens)
Orange is 7+8 (as it's now reported)
Green is X7

I can't believe the G70 is starting to grow on me. It's different and has a massive presence and I actually wouldn't mind the hubby owning an M760i. The flat black (gray?) example I keep seeing is stunning, IMO.

Couldn't agree more, m'lady.

I was shocked at first, but the more time passes, the more I'm convinced this was a. the right direction for the BMW b. fantastically designed automobile.

Is she really a lady?

The behavior in the USA is interesting, there the E65 is the best seller in history with peaks of 20 and 22 thousand per year, closely followed by the E38 with peaks of 18 thousand per year, E32 and F01 are almost tied
