A6/S6/RS6 Official: New Audi A6 (C7)

While nice looking (as all Audis are) the design does absolutely nothing to further Audi's look or the shake up the segment. The 5-Series and the Jaguar XF now have the design thing sewn up for this segment. Sure this car will look better in real life pics and in other colors, but it looks more like a bigger A4 than the A8 does. Interior is the same as the A7. A4,A6,A7,A8 same sausage, different lenghts for real. When is Audi going to shake up their design like they did with the A/S5?

That said, this is just an initial reaction. Ultimately I need to see it at the dealer on the the road beside me to really tell how it "looks".

The interior however, is the new segment leader. I will say that. The wood and layout are hot. Now for the S6 (and S8) to liven up these predictable designs.

I quite like this more than the A8 and A4. The headlights remind me of a mitsubishi lancer but gladly the LEDs distinguish the difference.

Really Footie? It lloks like a nice place to be, but the best of the big three, I don't think so. It's too flat and doesn't have any bulk. I might as well be sitting in a Citroen C1.

I agree Braaf. Is lacks visual solidity and looks rather effete.

I was hoping for the handsome A7 front end with a normal backend that didn't look like it was squatting to take a dump instead we get an elongated A4.

I wodner why they didnt take more riscs with the whole car? I mean, the front is really nice... But the side and the rear....? Why so little changes?

They took the risc with the last A6 and also the A5. They A6 is such an important car for Audi. So why not do more with the design? Ehhhh...

Those were the minor tweaks I was talking about.

I don't really know what people were expecting here, the last A6 was a roaring success and currently Audi are on a roll with the most growth out of the big three so clearly their design and styling is striking a cord with the public. Major changes are risky at best, Jaguar is one company that has truly changed for the better but I'm sure there were some sleepless night when the XF and XJ were released.

The A7 is one car that truly impresses when seen in the flesh compared to photos and the A6 is exactly the same.

BMW 5-Series is the best sedan design BMW has going right now. 7-Series is just not proportioned right, SWB is the only way to have it.

Lest we not forget, that when BMWs all had their own unique style and identity for each model they looked ugly as shit. The same can be said for Mercedes today.

And yet there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing it! BMWs have never looked better, and neither have Audis, Mercedes on the other hand look like cheap and nasty Korean cars... all distinctly different cheap and nasty Korean cars of course.

Just what was it that people were hoping for? Something radically different like penis shaped door handles, flame boosters and machine gun turrets grafted onto the roof?

Hmm, many mixed feeling about this one... But I was really waiting for it, and it turned out to be very interesting. So:

My first reaction was very positive. I first saw it at GCF's front page and I thought "Oh, a new Audi". It took me a while to figure out that it was the new A6, as I was expecting it to look like the A4 and A8. But the new front is certainly different enough from its predecessor.

But is it enough?

In my book, no! No, because with the second look you do notice how the profile is still unchanged and how much more edgy the rear looks in comparison to the front, which, with the second look, looks kind of weird. Those lights especially.

After looking it again and again, the only thing I can say is that certainly is not enough. A new front lights design and some updated rear lights are not enough for a completely new car. Audi has gone the safe way, and even though the car looks good and clean, it doesn't excite much and someone could even say that it's already dated. It's as concervative as it can get for me.

So, after the let-down of the exterior, I examined the interior as good as the availiable photos let me. So, the interior is a big step forward. If I am not mistaken, the interior is A7 derivered. And it's nice. It's very different from the previous A6 and is something fresh for Audi, and the german trio actually. It's not as horizontal-and-vertical-lines-only as we are used to, and it has many curves. Yet, it's complex enough, which means that it can look quite different in person and in real life. I have to see it, before I make my final opinion. But it's a good step forward.

In the end, for me it is not enough. Sure, it looks good, but do those styling changes justify it as a completely new car?

I don't think so...

With a gif, his case becomes worthless to be honest But you really don't need a gif for this, a simple pic of a 5er and 7er (or 3er, doesn't matter) is more then enough.

But reading the Audi A6 Spy Pics & Info, I was under the impression that this is an all new model.
