S-Class [Official] Mercedes-Maybach S-Class (Z223)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.

It’s the exact opposite for me. I would say the Maybach’s are the most blingy, then Rolls, Bentley being the last.
At least all the Rolls-Royce models I see here have understated specs, usually with unicolor, or some sort of a black-silver combination.
Everything depends on the owner’s taste, lol.
Most Maybachs sold in Türkiye come in a single color, black, and with a standard cabin.

Since then..."class" has been increasingly associated with "make-up".

Now imagine a new S-Class with proper 3-box design, with vertical headlights and all. How amazing would that be? They need a full redesign for the next generation, something very distinct and S-Class worthy.

Holistic, stylistic clarity/purity with integrity. No add-on afterthoughts, no multi-tone paint schemes.

Certainly achievable, I would think. The sheer cleanliness of the design would render anything that could possibly obstruct the visual flow categorically superfluous. Of course, this does not mean that the design would be required to adhere to aerodynamics defying, brick-like stringencies.

OT: If this was restored (which looks likely), was that the original hue or did the restorer/owner want something more adventurous? Either way, it looks amazing.

BTW, I think I've left my blue era and entered the green phase of life. Seems like that's the color I find most appealing on most cars.

This is exactly what Mercedes should introduce with Maybach sub brand as a stand alone variant. Let it be something sit between a limo and SUV like a Phantom. Definitely with a V12 & Electric options, high level of bespoke still not the price tag of Maybach 57 & 62

That's kind of what the 62 was, a modern version of the 600, both in terms of vehicle type and even its dimensions.

True, but 62 had more to offer than the hardware like personal assistance program & independent branding which resulted in a huge price tag, which is one of the root cause for fall of the mighty masterpiece.

Yeah a giant sedan that’s innovative, has the finest touches, a V12 with looks to match & about the size of the 62 would work if it’s priced right in today’s age.

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
